UPSC recently released the result of the Civil Service Examination. Every year the UPSC examination includes a large number of candidates. But only a few candidates are able to pass it. Today we are going to tell you a similar story, in which the candidate from the sheep spinach community passed this exam.
This is the story of Birappa Doni, a resident of Nanwadi village in Karnataka. This is not just the success of a young man, but the victory of the hope and struggle of an entire community. This ordinary youth, who lives a life with sheep, proved the 551st rank in UPSC CSE 2024 and proved that whatever the situation, if the intentions are strong then the floor is not far away.
Good news from pasture
Originally a resident of Amaghe village in Maharashtra, Birappa came to his relatives in Nanwadi village in Belagavi district during the holidays. On 23 April 2025, when his family received information that Birappa had achieved 551st rank in UPSC, it was as if there was a festive atmosphere in the village. The pasture on which sheep were grazed daily, the same place was celebrated with flowers, garlands, drums and traditional folk songs.
Travel from army to civil service
Birappa had a dream to become an officer in the army, like his elder brother is working in the Indian Army. After doing BTech, he started a job in India Post, but his heart always pulled towards big dreams.

Dream of becoming IPS
A few years later, he quit his job and started preparing for UPSC. This was his third attempt and this time he flew high of success. He wishes that he gets a chance in the Indian Police Service (IPS), so that he can serve the society.
My son is hardworking …
Birappa’s father Siddhappa Doni says that he did not know much about the exam, but I was confident that my son would do something big.
