Singer Rishabh Tandon’s recent heart touching music ‘Ishq Fakirana’ has been released. He spoke to him on the inspiration behind this song, music creation process and changes in the music industry. Rishabh Tandon told that ‘Ishq Fakirana’ is an example of how we can associate cultural heritage with modern trends and make some really unique. Here is some more special parts of the conversation with Rishabh Tandon ..
You have made yourself ‘fakir’ for your new album ‘Ishq Fakirana’. What is this change?
This is not just a change, this is my new birth. I kept a distance from music for 20 years, understood myself. Heart broke, remained alone and faced difficulties in life. All these changed me. ‘Ishq Fakirana’ is my new chapter, where I have come in a new form.
This album is a story of my life. This is the beginning of a new chapter, where I am not just making a comeback to music but returning with a very deep understanding of who I am.
This album reflects that development. Due to which music is not limited to tunes, but it becomes part of my personal journey. This is my new identity related to an honest and heart.

Your song ‘again again’ was a big hit. What has changed in your music since then?
A lot has changed. Today’s younger generation (GEN Z) and the attitude of seeing the love of the older generation are different. I have tried to connect these two generations with ‘Ishq Fakirana’.
‘Ishq Fakirana’ is called Asia’s first digital musical series. What is this?
This is not just an album, but an experience. I selected my favorite songs from 400 songs. Then my wife and my wife Olesia showed their love story through the video. In this, Indian music is mixed with music around the world. This is a new experiment.
It is not only about love, it is about adding cultures, bringing ways of thinking together and making something that talks to a universal language and music.

Your album has subjects like love, tolerance and spirituality. How do you bring them to today’s music?
These subjects will always be important. I listened to my heart and made the same songs that I loved. I have a deep connection with Lord Shiva and it looks in my music. I want to make music that touch the hearts of people.
When I worked on ‘Ishq Fakirana’, I made sure that I had complete creative control. I turned down commercial support because I wanted to maintain the integrity of my work.
These are subjects that are deeply personal to me and I wanted them to be authentic. For example, the spiritual relationship with my Lord Shiva impressed my creations in such a way that they turned into a much deeper meaning than just simple tunes.

How is the music industry changing in today’s digital age?
Digital platforms have brought music to the whole world. ‘Ishq Fakirana’ is also a digital series. I think we can create new music by combining Indian music with modern music. It is very exciting. The rise of digital platforms has proved to be a game changer. It has also given artists an opportunity to reach the audience around the world.
My job in ‘Ishq Fakirana’ is an example of how we can associate cultural heritage with modern trends and make some really unique. This is a way to honor the prosperity of Indian music, while it can be transported to a broad, global audience. I believe that we are on the verge of a new era of the music industry and I am proud to be a part of this change.
