1. Tuhin Kant Pandey became the new president of SEBI
On 27 February 2025, Finance and Revenue Secretary Tuhin Kant Pandey was appointed as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
IAS Tuhin Kant Pandey will be replaced by Madhabi Puri Buch of 1987 batch of Odisha cadre. Whose three -year term ends on February 28.

Prior to this posting, Pandey was working as Secretary and Finance Secretary, Ministry of Revenue Department, Finance Ministry.
2. Ursula Von Der Leyen on a two -day visit to India
PM Narendra Modi interacted with Ursula von Der Leyen, president of the European Commission on Friday 28 February 2025. In which the India-European Association (EU) spoke on expanding strategic partnerships.
Both sides are expected to take stock of the ongoing dialogue to strengthen an ambitious trade deal as well as ways to promote trade and investment relations.

Ursula has come to India on a two -day visit on Thursday.

1. CBSE said- Punjabi language will remain compulsory
According to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the exam policy has been approved twice a year for class 10th from 2025-26 recently. But due to this policy, Punjabi language was removed from the Central Board of Education i.e. CBSE draft.
This draft found ‘missing’ from the list of Punjabi language regional language, but was also removed from the list of five main subjects. However, CBSE soon released an additional document, stating that Punjabi and other regional language would be taught as before.
According to Punjab Learning of Punjabi and Other Language Act, 2008, students are compulsory to read Punjabi from first class to 10th.

Bais wrote a letter to the central government seeking immediate withdrawal of the decision.
2. Launch of education Sanjeevani Insurance Scheme in Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government has introduced education Sanjeevani Bima Yojana to provide accident insurance to school children in the state.
Under this scheme, individual accident insurance coverage of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.3 lakh will be given to the children registered in government schools and their parents. If the parents of the insured die due to an accident, then the children will be given scholarships including interest till the age of 18.
This scheme will initially cover the schools of Udaipur division. State Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar launched the scheme. The scheme will be partners of Wonder Cement, Zurich Kotak General Insurance and State Bank of India Education Sanjeevani Bima Yojana.
Accounts will be opened from State Bank of India. These will be zero balance accounts. 1.35 lakh children will be involved. Government school will cover students up to 1-5 students.
