🌾 Mekong Delta Tour Experience 🌾

We did just that and what a wonderful Full Day Adventure it was with Vietnam Alive Travel. Selecting a private tour to that of big 🚌 bus tours, offers a more personal experience, and one suited to your, individual desires.

Below, are a few great reasons to choose Vietnam Alive Travel for your Mekong Delta Tour.

Full Day Mekong Delta Tour From Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam Alive Travel Tours

Our driver and experienced English speaking guide (Mr. Van Nguyen) arrived at our 🏨 hotel, in Ho Chi Minh City promptly at; 7 am.

From the hotel, we started on our scenic 2 hour or approximately 140 kilometer drive. Our journey would be taking us south, towards the; Mekong Delta. This was in our private and very comfortable 🚗 car.

The Mekong Delta

Mekong Delta River Boat

The vast {Mekong Delta}, is situated in the south west portion, of Vietnam. It consists of 13 provinces and one city, making up a enormous area of over; 40,000 square kilometers.

The Delta is a huge network consisting of rivers, wetlands and small islands. Many areas include small villages surrounded by rice paddies. For many, the main form of transportation for its inhabitants is by 🚣 boat.

Mekong Delta River Home

Today, this region is a very popular tourist destination and attraction. It offers visitors a look at the unique way of life on the river, for the Vietnamese people.

This prosperous region consists of numerous canals throughout the Delta. Mixed among these waterways, you’ll find many homes, floating markets and rice fields.

The enormous Mekong River, beginning in Tibet and running through several countries, prior to starting its near; 200 kilometer trek through Vietnam. Dividing into 9 river mouths and appropriately called the; 🐉 Nine Dragon Delta, by the local people.

This flourishing region in Vietnam is divided by numerous natural and man-made canals, serving the local traffic.

The Mekong Delta Tour & Cai Be Floating Market

Cai Be Floating Market

We arrived at an arm of the Cai Be River, after our pleasant drive with; Van. He continually kept us informed of the region and its history, during the drive. There was also a brief rest stop along the way, at a beautiful 🛕 temple for a stretch.

Surprisingly, we stepped onboard our own private long boat, where we begin our river cruise, along the canal.
After a short cruise, we made our way to the once very busy and prosperous; Cai Be Village and Floating Market.

Mekong Delta Longboat Tour

First, we stopped at a small canal at a nearby small island. We climbed aboard a delightful small rowboat. A lovely Vietnamese elder woman was rowing and guiding us down the canal.

This is a great opportunity to view life on the river and enjoy the peace and serenity, the area has to offer!

We then hopped back onboard and made our way slowly to the {Floating Market} along the way, catching a glimpse of the; 🔔 Bell Tower of a ⛪ Catholic Church, built in the 19th century.

This is when the French tried desperately to spread Christianity throughout the Delta region, many years ago.

From the Floating Market, we were able to walk throughout the village. We made a stop at a small business, where demonstrations are shown on how the locals create; rice candy and other treats.

As well, you can sit back and enjoy a cup of local Vietnamese tea!

Enjoy Lunch On Your Vietnam Alive Mekong Delta Tour

Historic 1838 House Mekong Delta

From here, we continue in our long boat to an area of the Delta where we come upon a beautiful; historic home, dating back to the early 1800’s.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch, consisting of; Vietnamese spring rolls and fresh bass 🐟 fish.

This is a wonderful way to spend the day and see an important part of the country. To actually see and experience how life exists for so many in this region.

Having a private tour along with an experienced and knowledgeable guide, made this experience, so much more enjoyable and memorable.

Vietnam Alive Travel Guide

I highly suggest looking at the option of a private tour, if/when planning a visit to the Delta. So much so, to that of a crowded and stuffy tour bus. You will also be surprised at the small additional amount it costs and especially, if you are with a small group.

Helpful Tips Banner

When taking any tours in Vietnam, I strongly suggest you carry small Vietnamese 💵 Dong notes, with you. It means so much to these people, to receive a small gratuity from you. A small gesture given to them, helps support themselves and their families.

For example, when taking a small boat ride as we did with this elder woman, a token gratitude after this enjoyable ride, was so greatly appreciated! 🙂
