Mani Shankar Iyer has given many controversial statements earlier.
Former Union Minister and Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has raised questions about the education of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He wondered how a person with such a weak education record was made Prime Minister.
BJP leader Amit Malviya on Wednesday shared a video of Iyer’s statement on his ‘X’ handle. In an interview in this, Mani Shankar is saying this.
On Mani Shankar’s statement, Congress leader Harish Rawat said- I do not want to comment on any desperate person. I knew Rajiv Gandhi, he gave the country a modern vision.
Mani Shankar Iyer said- Gandhi family ruined my career About 3 months ago, Mani Shankar Aiyar had said that in the last 10 years, he has got a chance to meet Sonia Gandhi only once. He said that the Gandhi family made my political career and ruined, but I will never go to BJP.
In an interview to news agency PTI, Iyer told two stories. He had told that once he had to call Priyanka Gandhi to send wishes to Rahul Gandhi. At the same time, once he greeted Sonia Gandhi on my Christmas, Madam said- ‘I am not Christian’.
Mani Shankar Aiyar said in his book (Mani Shankar Aiyar a Maverick in Politics) that Rahul Gandhi did not give him a ticket in the 2024 election and Rahul said- Hargiz will not give tickets to Mani Shankar Iyer as he has become very old. Iyer has won the Lok Sabha elections three times from Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu and has also been a Rajya Sabha MP.
Iyer said- If Pranab Mukherjee had been the Prime Minister, I did not lose the election badly, Iyer said that Pranab Mukherjee hoped that he would be made the Prime Minister of the country and Manmohan Singh as the President. If Mukherjee had been the Prime Minister, the Congress would not have lost badly in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He said that the situation of Congress was bad since 2012. Sonia Gandhi fell very ill and Manmohan Singh had to bypass 6 times, due to which the party president and the Prime Minister were not active in the election. Pranab Mukherjee could handle such a situation well.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won an absolute majority for the first time. In this election, the BJP won 282 seats and the Congress was reduced to only 44 seats.

4. Narasimha Rao was communal In August 2023, Mani Shankar Aiyar described former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao as communal. He had said- Narasimha Rao was worshiping when Babri Masjid was being demolished. He called India a Hindu nation. The first Prime Minister of BJP was not Atal Bihari Vajpayee but PV Narasimha Rao.
Narasimha Rao was the ninth Prime Minister of India. He led the Congress government from 1991 to 1996.
