Actress Nusrat Bharucha, who has made her mark with films like ‘Pyaar Ka Panchnama’, ‘Pyaar Ka Panchnama 2’, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, ‘Dream Girl’, ‘Chori’, ‘Maintenance in Public Interest’, ‘Ram Setu’, is a successful actress even though her career was not easy today.
In a recent interview to Bollywood bubble, Nusrat shared things of his old days. He told how he took out a full day for just 8 rupees during college days and many times he worked even after drinking water.
The habit of saving money is from college
Nusrat said, ‘O God, I am not very good in managing finance, but not too bad. I had dispelled very quickly how much expenion of the month is needed. What are my basic needs? I fixed a figure, and whatever came above that figure, I put it in investment and saving. My accountants have an instrument to send the money direct to my wealth advisors.
I feel scared, Because the responsibility of the family is mine
He further said, ‘I am not a superhuman. I feel scared. My father is now close to 70, mother is 62 and my grandmother is 92 years old. All three live with me. If God does not do anything, then I should have money in backup. I have made my world small, so that I can support my loved ones if needed.
5 Only in college till year 8 Used to take the day in money
Recalling her college days, Nusrat said, ‘I used to go from Juhu to Jai Hind College. Papa’s financial condition was not good at that time, he was cheated in business. I had taken admission in Jai Hind, but I knew that Papa could not spend money. I have spent 90% days of my entire college for just 8 rupees. ‘
Only the bus was fare, The rest of the day used to drink water
‘I used to leave the house, the number 231 bus used to catch from Juhu to Santa Cruz station; It used to cost 4 rupees. Papa had built the railway pass, he did not have to pay for it. Churchgate descended, college would go on foot, lived there all day. The same route back in the evening. 4 rupees to leave and Rs 4 for coming; Total 8 rupees. Water was free in college, just drank water when thirsty.
Sitting in restaurant, Did not order
Nusrat shared an anecdote, ‘Once friends had placed a gate-tugder in a new restaurant in Bandra. I was at home, thought or not? The rickshaw from Juhu to Bandra will be 60–70 rupees, the same. But sitting alone also seemed boring. I went there, but was thinking of saving money. I just ordered a fresh lime soda. ‘
The stomach was hungry, But there was a smile on the face
‘Everyone was eating and enjoying food there. I sat there sitting there, did not order anything. Just kept drinking water. And I remember, I had a smile on my face because I felt good that no one knows that I was hungry. I thought that one day would come when I would be able to do all this without thinking.
Even today there is no habit of flying money
Nusrat finished the conversation and said, ‘So even today, if I spend money, I do my heart openly, but not everyday. Because my conditioning is like this. I started with 8 rupees, I have taken out the day after drinking water. So even now when money comes, there is a thing in the heart that you have to save. ‘
