The Delhi High Court, while hearing a case, granted bail to a person. The man was jailed for the last seven years on the charge of killing a girl. The girl who was arrested on charges of killing the person was found alive after some time. While the girl whose body was found, has not been identified yet. The High Court has also reprimanded the police for not taking the case serious.
High court said- The case shook the conscience of the court
Giving bail to the person, Justice Girish Kathpalia said on 21 April, ‘At least it will have to be said that the investigation of this case has shaken the conscience of the court. The deceased woman has not been identified yet. The accused man was last seen with Sony alias Chhoti, who has been found alive.
Jail accused Manjit Kerketta, who was jailed for murder, sought bail on the basis that he was in jail since 2018, but till now no one knows who was killed.
During the hearing, Justice Girish Kathpalia said, ‘It is very sad that a woman lost her life in such a gruesome manner 7 years ago, her body was cut into pieces. But till date the deceased woman has not been identified.
The person was jailed since 2018
At the time of the incident, the body was identified as Soni aka Chhoti. After this, on May 17, 2018, the accused i.e. Manjit Kerketta was arrested. However, shortly after, Sony was reportedly found to be alive and the woman whose body was found could not be identified till date.
The police had filed about five complaints in this case. During the hearing of the case, the court said that ‘it was not only the investigator but also the responsibility of senior police officers that they had to monitor the investigation. But it seems that he did not work hard.
At the same time, the other party opposed the bail plea and said that the proof of the last time with Soni aka Chhoti associates the accused with the murder. The lawyer of the other side said that the body of the victim was recovered from the accused to hide the body. He accused Manjeet of murder, saying that the call data records show that he was present at the scene.
The court said that the accused cannot be deprived of freedom just because the victim could not be identified. The court said, “The bail plea of the accused is accepted and directed that the accused be released on bail immediately.”
