Delhi vegetable price hike: After the Mahashiratri, in the Pak month of Ramadan, the prices of fruits and vegetables in the markets of the capital Delhi are touching the sky. Essential food items in Iftar and Sahari during Ramadan have now become expensive, which is affecting the pockets of common people. Things like apples, bananas, grapes, watermelons, seasonal, chiku, melon, chuku and dates are now getting out of the reach of people, due to which people are getting upset.
Every year the demand for fruits and vegetables increases during the Ramadan after the Mahashivaratri festival, but this time inflation has increased the difficulties of the people. In the major markets of the capital, there is a tremendous jump in the prices of fruits and vegetables, which has increased the problems of Rojedar.
Prices in Delhi’s big mandis uncontrollable
Prices of fruits have increased rapidly in places like Karol Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Patel Nagar, Moti Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Connaught Place, Shadipur, Uttam Nagar and Suburbari Dwarka. Apples are selling at a price of more than Rs 200 per kg, bananas at Rs 80 to 100 per dozen, guava at Rs 150 per kg and grapes at a rate of Rs 120 to 160 per kg.
It is now being overshadowed by buying the necessary items to keep fast with customers who shop daily. Now other daily shopping with those keeping Rosa is purchasing small amounts of fruits under compulsion due to increased prices, then some are looking for cheap options.
Dual hit of inflation on public
People who came to shop in Delhi’s markets say that earlier the fruits that were purchased in kilos, now they have to buy in half a kilo or 250 grams. Raghuveer Nagar residents Abhishek Kapoor and Azad Kapoor said, during Ramadan, it has become difficult to take duits including the necessary fruits.
Earlier, the amount of money was purchased in the same amount of fruits, now even half of the fruits are not available. The increased price of vegetables has been completed there.
Vijay, who sells fruits and vegetables in Uttam Nagar, said, “The prices of vegetables are very high in the wholesale. They are bringing and selling vegetables at expensive prices, but the customers are not coming. At the same time, Fatima, who came to shop for Rosa in the market, said, fruits are very important for Iftar in Ramadan, but this time it is difficult to get as much as the first purchase.
Inward in mandi, prices rise
As the heat will increase in the capital Delhi, the arrival of fruits and vegetables in Azadpur, Keshopur, Najafgarh and Ghazipur mandi starts decreasing, due to which prices start increasing rapidly. A wholesaler from Azadpur Mandi said that there has been a huge decline in the supply recently. The demand for fruits increases during Ramadan, but this time the supply is not normal, due to which prices are touching the sky.
Talk about the prices of fruits and vegetables before and now, their prices are seen to be quite bounced.

Where the apple was being sold for 120 to 150 rupees per kg, people have to buy today at the rate of 200 rupees per kg. Similar pomegranate has reached 120 to 230, guava 80 to 120, watermelon 30 to 60, papaya 40 to 70 rupees and grapes 80-100 rupees from Rs 120-160 per kg.
Current price of vegetables
Cauliflower, which used to sell for 10-20 rupees per kg till last month, is being sold at the rate of Rs 30-40 per kg. At the same time, people are being forced to buy 50-60 instead of Shimla chilli 30 to 40, okra 40-50 to 80-100, bitter gourd 30-40 to 60-70 and onion at the rate of Rs 40-60 per kg.
