Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is going to be implemented soon in Delhi. On March 18, in the presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between the Delhi Government and the National Health Authority (NHA).
With this, Delhi will become a 35th state/union territory to adopt this scheme. During this time, five families of Delhi will be given the beneficiary card of Ayushman Bharat Yojana for the first time.
After the implementation of the scheme, financially weaker people in Delhi will get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Apart from this, the Delhi government will also provide additional assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh, which will provide health cover of up to Rs 10 lakh.

About 6 lakh beneficiaries benefits in the first phase Sources in the Health Ministry said that the time of MoU has been fixed, but how many families in Delhi have to make a part of this scheme? Information about this is yet to be received from the state government. According to sources, six lakh people will be made beneficiaries in the first phase. Apart from this, Anganwadi workers and elders aged 70 years or above in Delhi will also get the benefit of this scheme. The people of Delhi have to register on the online portal or mobile app to be a part of Ayushman India, which is operated by the National Health Authority.

55 crore people are taking advantage of the scheme across the country Ayushman Bharat Yojana is providing free treatment facility to about 55 crore people of 12.37 crore families in the country. On 29 October 2024, the government had decided to change its rules and give an annual health cover of up to Rs 10 lakh to senior citizens above 70 years of age. As soon as the scheme is implemented in Delhi, West Bengal will be the only state, which has not adopted the scheme.

For this, an agreement was reached with the National Health Authority (NHA) in New Delhi on Monday. Plan started in October 2024 for 70+ year olds

The central government had announced the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Scheme to all people aged 70 years and above from 29 October 2024. There was no condition for free treatment in this scheme. On the basis of income, pension, bank balance, land or chronic diseases, no elderly can be out of the purview of this scheme.
While starting the scheme, the government had said that 6 crore senior sites will get the benefit of this scheme. It will include around 4.5 crore families in the country. Earlier, more than 34 crore people were getting the benefit. Read full news …
