Pakistan is hosted by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but this team is out of the tournament without making it to the top-4. It is really a shame for Pakistan, hosting an ICC tournament after 29 years. Pakistan’s team could not make it to the semi -finals due to the defeat at the hands of New Zealand and then India. However, now the question arises that what mistakes did the host Pakistan make, due to which it could not make a place in the semi -finals.
1- Bad captaincy
Mohammad Rizwan’s poor captaincy is one of the biggest reasons for this poor condition of Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025. If we talk about the match played against India, then while batting first, the team had put 242 runs on the board, for which this team could fight. However, Rizwan could not use his bowlers properly, due to which the match got out of his hand. He does not have any special experience of captaincy in this format, which is clearly reflected during the match. Talking about the figures, Rizwan had captained only 12 matches before the start of this tournament.
2- Bad fielding
His fielding was also handed over to the Pakistan team’s fleet. Talking about the match played with India, Pakistani fielders left 2 important catches. First Khushdil Shah dripped the catch of Shubman Gill and then Mohammad Shakeel gave life to Shreyas Iyer. Not only this, the Pakistan team had dropped shoulders in both matches, as if they had given up from the first over.
3- Playing with just one spinner
