Nitish Kumar, who has taken his image and politics neatly, has taken a bold decision in the election year, which has become a matter of discussion. Till now experts believed that JDU could not offend Muslim voters in view of elections, so she does not leave any such opportunity,
,
Bihar has assembly elections this year. According to the 2023 ethnic census data, the state has 17.7% Muslims. Which has an impact on about 47 seats in the state. In such a situation, Nitish Kumar has supported Modi on the Waqf Bill. According to media reports, the party president gave a clear message to his MPs that you should not worry about Muslim votes.
First of all know how BJP took Nitish into confidence
- The basic draft of the bill provided that within 6 months of the implementation of the new law, it would be necessary to register all Waqf Properties on a Central Portal. After 6 months, no hearing can be held in the court under the law regarding the property. JDU MP Dileshwar Kamat suggested amendment in this provision, which was accepted by JPC. Now the Waqf Tribunal can increase the timeline of registration of a Waqf property. For this, the property of the property, the caretaker, will have to give the appropriate reason in front of the tribunal.
- BJP’s top leadership cleared each point of the bill. Shah held a meeting with Lalan Singh and Sanjay Jha.
- It is reported that Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Nitish Kumar during his recent visit to Bihar. Explained to them that the bill is in favor of poor and Pasmanda Muslims. They can come with us after passing the bill.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was on a tour of Bihar on 29-30 January. On January 30, he held a meeting with the NDA constituent leaders at CM House.
Now know in 3 points, what happened that Nitish Kumar got fascinated by Muslims?
1. worked for Muslims, but they did not support
In 2013, Nitish Kumar broke the 17 -year -old NDA alliance in protest against Narendra Modi. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on his own. He hoped that apart from his core vote bank, Muslims would also be supported, but it proved to be their confusion. He fielded his candidates in 38 seats, but could win only 2 seats. One of them was Nalanda and one Purnia. He lost the remaining 36 seats.
According to JDU sources, Nitish Kumar’s heart was broken from the same year. Nitish Kumar had openly agreed to support the government on the Waqf Amendment Bill. He believed that we work for them, but they do not support us.
A JDU leader told Dainik Bhaskar that cloth is necessary to do politics. In such a situation, why should the party be giving us both positions and stature, why should we oppose their agenda. Therefore, our leadership decided to support this bill.
2. JDU has agreed to not get Muslim votes
A big JDU leader said on the condition of anonymity that Nitish Kumar tried hard since 2005 that he got Muslim votes. A little support was also received by 2010. After this, Muslims went away from them.
In such a situation, now JDU’s top leadership has accepted that Muslim vote is unilateral in Bihar. Do anything, separate from BJP, come with RJD. They are not going to get Muslim votes. In such a situation, he decided to support the BJP.
According to CSDS-Lokniti’s post-poll survey 2020, the Grand Alliance of RJD and Congress got 75% Muslim votes. At the same time, NDA with BJP and JDU got 5% and Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (Ram Vilas) got 2% Muslim votes.
3. BJP’s support for weaker Nitish for 2025
Nitish Kumar’s party became the third number in the 2020 assembly elections. This was the first time after the 2005 assembly elections, Nitish Kumar got less seats than BJP. Chirag Paswan was considered the biggest responsible for this.
After the 2020 elections, Nitish Kumar may remain the CM, but he had to change his face twice. He first left the BJP and went with the RJD. After this he again came with BJP.
Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar in the next 6 months. Nitish Kumar’s health is already being questioned. JDU needs an old and reliable companion to keep its position strong in Bihar. In such a situation, there can be no other party for them more reliable than BJP.

Muslims disillusioned with Nitish Kumar since 2015
It is about 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Nitish Kumar was involved in a NDA meeting. Here the CM had to say, ‘Go and tell the Muslims, what work the government has done for him. If RJD arrives, the riot will break.
The message of this statement was clear. Nitish Kumar also had also agreed that this society has now disgusted with him. In the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2020 assembly elections, not a single Muslim candidate of Nitish Kumar’s party was able to win.
The last time 5 Muslim MLAs were won from JDU in the 2015 assembly elections. Not a single JDU Muslim MPs won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2020 assembly elections, JDU fielded 11 Muslim candidates, but not a single candidate managed to win. The same situation happened in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, not a single JDU candidate won the election.
Now know what Nitish did for Muslims
JDU claims that after coming to power in 2005, Nitish Kumar fulfilled many old demands of Muslims one by one. Many schemes such as construction of Haj Bhawan in Patna, construction of modern building of Anjuman Islamia, equal to the teachers of Madrasa, reinstatement of Urdu teachers, siege of cemeteries or construction of residential schools and hostels in every assembly constituency, many schemes have been started from 2005 to Muslim students for higher education.

In the Pak month of Ramadan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar organized an Iftar party at CM House. It was boycotted by some Muslim organizations.
Nitish has taken a separate stand from BJP twice
1. Support to CAA but oppose NRC
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) opposed the National Register (NRC) after supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that NRC will not be implemented in Bihar and they have also lodged protests against NPR. On NPR, Nitish has made it clear that a national population register should be prepared on the lines of 2010.
Although Nitish Kumar had previously opposed the CAA i.e. the Citizenship Amendment Act, but later JDU supported the bill in the Lok Sabha.
2. JDU also protested to remove Section 370
There was also a similar contradiction inside the JDU for the removal of Section 370. On August 5, 2019, during the voting for the removal of Section 370, all the MPs of Janata Dal United walked out of both houses and opposed this bill brought by the Narendra Modi government in a way.
