West bengal police: The West Bengal Police said on Saturday (March 29, 2025) that maintaining peace and harmony has been identifying the state for years and it warned people about the acts of spreading some kind of disturbances during the festivals of Eid-ul-Fitr and Ram Navami.

State Additional Director General of Police (ADG) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) (Law and Order) Javed Shamim urged people to inform the police if they saw any fake news, video, inflammatory message or disturbance, they should inform the police. He said that the police have received intelligence about efforts to spread unrest in some areas.

Shamim said, “We have come to know that efforts are being made to incite emotions to people during festivals. The administration is cautious and if someone sees any attempt to create disturbances, then we want it to inform the police. We will ensure privacy and will take quick action if needed. ”

‘All communities should maintain the tradition of Bengal’

The ADG and IGP Supreme Sarkar of South Bengal said that both Eid and Ramnavami festivals should be celebrated peacefully on behalf of all communities keeping in mind the tradition of maintaining peace and harmony. He said that any message, slogans or campaign that spoil peace and harmony will be dealt with strictly.

The government said, “If a person is found trying to spread enmity, hatred or disturb peace, then he will be accused under the relevant sections of the law and we have sought cooperation from the public.”

50 people arrested in violent clash case

Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar Verma said that many sensitive areas have been identified and the police is keeping an eye on another program. He said that the situation is now peaceful and normal. Meanwhile, North Bengal Inspector General of Police (IG) Rajesh Yadav said that the situation in Mothabari in Malda district is becoming normal, where a total of 50 people have been arrested in connection with the clash between two groups on Thursday.

He said that senior officials of administration and police held a meeting to restore peace in the area. He said that the general situation is returning in Mothabari, where some shops and other establishments have reopened. According to local people, the disturbance started on Thursday after passing a place of worship in a religious procession on Wednesday evening. Violence led to arson, sabotage and attacks on people.
