Violent protests took place in Murshidabad, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly and Malda districts of West Bengal in protest against the Waqf law.
West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose will be on a two -day visit to refugee camps and riot affected areas of Malda and Murshidabad from today. CM Mamta Banerjee on Thursday requested the Governor to postpone the tour. CM Mamta Banerjee said in the state secretariat that I will request non-local people not to visit Murshidabad right now.
Mamta said- I will appeal to the Governor to wait a few more days because measures are being taken to restore confidence. The situation is becoming normal. He has decided not to visit the affected areas themselves at present so that the competition to prove himself big politically can be avoided.
However, after meeting some victims of Murshidabad violence in Kolkata, the Governor said, ‘I will definitely visit Murshidabad. I myself will go to the area to see the ground status. We should take more steps to prevent such events in future. People have demanded a BSF camp there.
On the other hand, the Bengal government has submitted a report on the violence in the Calcutta High Court on Thursday. In this, the Mamta government claimed that the situation in the violence affected Murshidabad district is now under control. The bench of Justice Saumen Sen and Raja Basu Chaudhary reserved their order on continuing the deployment of central forces in the violence affected areas.
The High Court suggested that a panel with a member of the National Human Rights Commission, West Bengal State Human Rights Commission and the State Legal Services Authority should visit the violence affected areas.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari filed a petition
The bench leader of Justice Samen Sen and Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary was hearing the plea of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari. The lawyer appearing for the Center demanded to increase the deployment of CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) in Murshidabad in view of sensitivity.
Around 17 companies of central forces are currently deployed in the disturbed areas of Sati and Samseerganj-Dhulian in the district. In a petition, the state government appealed to take steps to return to their homes.
Here, the Bengal Police has arrested one of the mastermind killing the father and son during a violent protest in Jafarabad. Accused Inzamul Haque was arrested from Sati in the district on Thursday. Earlier, two other arrests have been made in the case.
Court said- Do not give any party provocative speech
The court warned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) and all other parties not to make any inflammatory statements. The court said, “Please do not give any inflammatory speech. This instruction is not only for any one person, but for everyone.”
Permission to protest, but warning to the state
However, the court refused to ban the protest against the Waqf Amendment Act. The court commented, “We are not interfering in the matter. But if the state government allows it, it is inviting the problem itself.”
Committee will be formed for people affected by violence
The court said that a special committee will be formed to identify the people affected by the violence and arrangements for food and living for them. The committee will consist of representatives of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC) and the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA).
Instructions to the state government to make rehabilitation scheme
The court has asked the West Bengal government to make a rehabilitation plan for the people affected in the violence. The court remarked, “The state will have to plan their rehabilitation and restore. The families of those who have been killed should be compensated.”

Additional Director General of Police (South Bengal) Supreme Sarkar said that Inzamul was not only involved in planning the murder, but also committed a crime of tampering with evidence by disrupting power supply in the area and destroying CCTV cameras.
The police arrested two brothers, Kalu Nawab and Dildar Nawab in connection with the murder this week. Kalu was arrested from a village in Sati near the Indo-Bangladesh border, while Dildar was picked up from Murarai in Birabhum near Jharkhand border.
The state police has also formed a SIT with 11 members under the leadership of DIG Syed Waqar Raza of Murshidabad. Which will investigate cases of this and other violence in the district.
So far 278 people have been arrested across the district in connection with the riots. No new incident of violence has been reported in the last four days. The normal situation is gradually returning to the affected areas. 85 families who ran away from homes are now back.
NCW formed a committee to investigate violence
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the recent violence in Murshidabad. The chairman of the commission Vijaya Rahatkar herself will visit the violence-affected areas and meet the victims. NCW has also said that no violence against women will be tolerated and strict action will be recommended against the culprits.
