Violent protests continue in West Bengal from April 10 to protest against the Waqf law. Meanwhile, tension spread in Farakka area of Murshidabad district on Sunday. However, the situation was soon controlled.
At the same time, BJP MP from Purulia Jyotirmaya Singh Mahato has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding the imposition of AFSPA (Arms Forces Special Power Act) in violent areas.
The central government has deployed 1600 personnel in violent areas. Among them are 300 BSF soldiers. A total of 21 companies have been deployed. Internet is banned in violent areas. Section 163 of BNS is also applicable.
BJP state president Sukant Majumdar said- The situation has improved slightly after the deployment of central forces. However, Hindus who migrated from Murshidabad district are still not ready to return.
About 500 people have migrated from Dhulian in the district. All of them have taken refuge in a school in Vaishnavanagar, Malda across the river. These people allege that their homes were vandalized. Poison has been added to drinking water. They have somehow escaped from there with the help of BSF.

Waqf law opposed- April 13 updates
- Tamilga Vetri Kazagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Waqf law.
- After Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka minister BJD Jamir Ahmed Khan said that the Karnataka government has decided not to implement this law in the state.
- Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh has said that the party’s Manipur unit will file a petition in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Act.
Suvendu officer demanded NIA investigation In West Bengal, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court. It demanded the deployment and violence of central force to be investigated by NIA. On April 12, the High Court ordered the deployment of central security forces in violent areas.
A bench headed by Justice Saumen Sen had said- we cannot blind eyes on the reports that have come out. These include barbarity in some districts of the state. Apart from Murshidabad, wherever violence is seen, the Central Security Force should be deployed.

Violence took place on 11 April in Murshidabad, Malda, South 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts. The protesters set fire to vehicles and threw stones at the police. Crude bombs were also thrown at the police at Sajur Crossing in Suiti police station area. During this time 10 policemen were injured.
The police had fired four rounds to control the situation. Two people were injured in the shootout. Both are undergoing treatment.
