There was a violent demonstration in Murshidabad on 11 April to protest against the Waqf law.
Violent protests took place in Murshidabad, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly and Malda districts of West Bengal in protest against the Waqf law. So far 3 people have died. Around 15 policemen are injured. Many vehicles were set on fire, shops and houses were ransacked and looted. Violence continues from April 10 to protest against the Waqf law in the state.
The central government has deployed 1600 central force personnel in the violent areas of West Bengal. A total of 16 companies have been deployed. Apart from this, around 300 BSF personnel are deployed. Apart from these, 5 companies have been deployed additional. There is an internet ban in violent areas. Section 144 is also applicable. Around 150 people have been arrested.
Among the people who died are father-son living in Dhulian. The violent mob beat up Hargovind Das (father) and Chandan Das (son). Both Hindu used to make idols of deities. The third young man was injured by a bullet on Friday. He died during treatment.
In West Bengal, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court, demanding the deployment of central force and investigating the violence with the NIA. The High Court ordered the deployment of central security forces in violent areas.
A bench headed by Justice Saumen Sen said- We cannot blind eyes on the reports that have come out. These include barbarity in some districts of the state. Apart from Murshidabad, wherever violence is seen, the Central Security Force should be deployed.

Union Home Secretary spoke to Chief Secretary-DGP
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan performed video conferencing with West Bengal Chief Secretary and DGP on Murshidabad violence. He asked to take adequate steps to ensure the general situation at the earliest.

Violence took place on 11 April in Murshidabad, Malda, South 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts. The protesters set fire to vehicles and threw stones at the police. Crude bombs were also thrown at the police at Sajur Crossing in Suiti police station area. During this time 10 policemen were injured.
The police had fired four rounds to control the situation. Two people were injured in the shootout. Both are undergoing treatment.

- April 12:- Tripura, 18 policemen injured A rally of 4 thousand people became violent in Unakoti district of Tripura. At least 18 policemen, including the SDPO, were injured. The police then arrested 18 protesters.
Governor CV Anand Bose talks with Shah The state governor CV Anand Bose discussed the violence in West Bengal with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Apart from this, Bose directed the state government to take action against the miscreants responsible for the nuisance in the sensitive areas of Murshidabad, Malda and South 24 Parganas districts.
In the video released from Raj Bhavan, Bose said- Public system cannot be interrupted and people’s lives cannot be tampered with in the name of protest. Strict action will be taken against the miscreants who think they can take the law in their hands.

17 petitions filed in Supreme Court, 10 listed 17 petitions challenging the constitutionality of the new Waqf law have been filed in the Supreme Court. Of these, 10 petitions have been listed for hearing. The 3 -member bench of CJI Sanjeev Khanna will hear these on 16 April. The bill was supported by 128 members in the Rajya Sabha, 95 protested. This bill was passed in the midnight of 2 April in the Lok Sabha. During this period, 288 MPs voted in support and 232 in protest.
