Voting for the general election is to be held in Germany today. In the survey, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) of the current Chancellor is seen lagging behind. Frederick Menthor of Opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is ahead in Chancellor Race. Apart from these, Alice Videl’s radical Alternative for Germany (AFD) is also getting an edge.
According to the survey, 29% of the people are in support of the party of Frederick Matj, while the radical Ellis’s party AFD has been supported by 21% of the people. Of these, more than 60% are young. Chancellor Sholj’s SPD is seen at number three with the support of 16% of the people.
At the same time, the green party included in the ruling coalition can get 12% and the free Democratic Party can get 7% votes. Both these can play the role of King Maker.
Chancellor Sholj announced to hold premature elections in December last year after losing a no -confidence motion.
Voting will run 10 hours, counting starts after ending
Germany voting time will be from 8 am to 6 pm (from 12:30 pm to 10:30 pm Indian time). In a country with a population of 8.4 crore, 6 crore people will vote in the general election.
Exit polls will come after the voting is over. Also, counting of votes will also start. The initial results will be cleared a few hours after the voting is over. The result will be officially announced by Monday morning.
Germany’s Parliament has 630 seats. 29 parties are in the fray in the election.
Musk and Russia interfere in election
The intervention of American businessman Way Tesla and SpaceX owner Ellon Musk has also made the election interesting. Musk has again supported the radical leader Alice Videl on Saturday.
On the other hand, Russia’s interference in the election has come to light. According to experts, groups like ‘Dopelganger’ and ‘Storm-1516’ are affecting the election through Bot Army from Russia. These groups are posting thousands of videos daily on social media, especially on X.
These posts are being held in support of AFD and their most target is SPD. Apart from these, fake news is being spread from more than 100 fake websites from Russia.
Musk also addressed a AFD party rally online last month.
Even though the CDU of Matj is at the forefront in the survey, the party does not seem to get more than 50% of the votes. The party needs more than 50% support to come to power in Germany, so a coalition government is often formed here.
Illegal migrant issue for all three major parties
In the election, issues like Ukraine Jung, Russia, Economy and Budget are prevalent. However, illegal migrant is a major issue for CDU, SPD, AFD. AFD is making an issue of recent terrorist attacks in Germany with illegal migrants.
The CDU is talking about tightening the boundaries and tightening the terms of citizenship for refugees. The SPD is also in favor of border strictly but wants to continue the policy of letting skilled migrants to come.
