Nyt on pahalgam terror attack: The New York Times has once again come into controversy over the reporting of painful terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. 26 innocent tourists were killed in this attack, after which the Government of India and security experts clearly termed it as a terrorist attack, but the New York Times described it in its report as “militant attacks, which led to disagreement by the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the lower house of the US Congress.

The committee publicly shared a picture on the social media platform ‘X’, in which the word “militant” was cut and “terrorist” was instead. The committee leader wrote, “New York Times, we have fixed it for you. It was a terrorist attack. When it comes to India or Israel, your attitude deviates from reality.”

India will take action against the culprits

India held a high -level security review meeting soon after this attack, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly called a terrorist attack and promised that strict action would be taken against the culprits. In the briefing given to the cabinet committee, it was revealed that Pakistan was behind the attack. This attack has been considered a conspiracy to derail the peaceful elections in Kashmir and the progress being made towards development. The Government of India has submitted evidence against organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba to Pakistan many times before, but no cooperation was found.

Difference between extremism and terrorism

Extremism and terrorism are two different concepts, which need to be clearly understood. Extremism can be a form of disagreement and armed opposition within a nation, which demands political change. Whereas in terrorism, through a well planned violence, a nation is to destabilize and create fear in the general public. This may be associated with support and global agendas from border.
