The lawyers have advised that people should not surrender their green cards at American airports under any kind of pressure.

There are cases of harassing green card holders in the US. Customs and border protection officers are pressurizing the green card holders to return their green cards. These include Indians.

Several lawyers in the cases related to immigration said that these green card holders are being questioned at the airports. They are being kept in custody overnight. Such elderly are more targeted, who live in America with their children, but they go to India in winter.

The lawyers have advised that people should not surrender their green card at the airport under any kind of pressure. Green card holders have the right to hear their case in front of the Immigration Judge.

A lawyer said that custom and border protection officers cannot cancel anyone’s green card until he surrenders it himself.

Lawyer said- Indian elderly officers targeted According to the Times of India report, the lawyers said that under the Immigration and Nationality Act, if a green card holder stays out of America for more than 180 days, he has to get re-admission.

His card can be canceled when he stayed out of America for a year i.e. 365 days. In such a situation, in winter, cases of such green card holders living in India are increasing. Most such elderly people are on the target of officers.

Lawyer said- Officers are considering themselves as judges Ashwin Sharma, a lawyer, told the Times of India that I am looking at many cases in which pressure is being pressurized to sign Form I-407 which is out of America for a little longer. This form says that the signer is leaving the status of permanent resident (green card) on his own free will.

If such people protest, then the custom and border protection officers are showing fear of keeping them in custody or being sent out. These officers are considering themselves as judges, as they have got courage from Trump’s policies.

US Vice President said- Greencard holders do not always have the right to live 2 days ago, US Vice President JD Vance said that green card holders cannot live in America forever. Keeping a green card does not mean that someone has got the right to live in America for a lifetime. The government has the right to remove the green card holders.
