- Original Salary: Rs 2,25,000 per month
- Dearness Allowance (DA): About 1,03,500 rupees at the rate of current 46%
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): About 67,500 rupees (if there is no government accommodation)
- Other allowances: Special allowance, traffic allowance, and other benefits, about 30,000 rupees
Thus, the total monthly salary of a DGP, including all the allowances, is between 3.5 lakh to 4 lakh rupees. However, most of the DGPs also get government accommodation, vehicles, security personnel and other facilities, whose montary value is different from this.

Possible increase from 8th Pay Commission
The Central Government has constituted the 8th Pay Commission, on the basis of the recommendations of which the salary of government employees will be amended. According to experts, an increase of about 25-30% is expected, which can increase the basic salary of the DGP to about 2,80,000 to 3,00,000 rupees per month.
Dearness allowance can be adjusted on the basis of new calculation method. Like the previous pay commissions, there may be a provision of fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission, which can increase the basic salary further. Together, all these factors, after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, the total monthly salary of the DGP of Uttar Pradesh can reach about 5 lakh to 5.5 lakh rupees.

The salary hike will also affect retiring retired benefits like pension and gratuity. Officers who are retired from the post of DGP will get more pension benefits.
