Recently, Haryana Human Rights Commission has recognized a transgender school to increase equality and invoice in the Education Department. The commission also gave a statement about it on Thursday, April 11. According to this, the commission has ruled at the Founder of the school of Karnal. In this school, under-prone children are educated.

School was opened in 2014

The school was started in an area of 800 square meters in the year 2014-15. But to get recognized according to the new rules, there should be 1500 square meters instead of school. A petition was filed due to non -recognition of the school. In this, the case of land was said to be the biggest reason.

Haryana Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice Lalit Batra issued a detailed order along with other members Kuldeep Jain and Deep Bhatia. The order cited the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019 and Article 14 of the Constitution of India. Article 14 gives every citizen of India the right to live with respect and equality.

‘Government should give transgenders an opportunity for equal education and employment’

The Commission said that the recognition of the school should be reconsidered from sympathetically and an inclusive point of view. Not giving recognition to the school over land dispute is a violation of the Transgender Rights Act 2019. According to different provisions of this Act, the state government should ensure that transgenders get equal opportunities for education and employment and they do not have to bear any discrimination.

The order was also given a reference for the 2014 Nalsa Verse Union of India’s Supreme Court verdict and an advisory of advisory issued in the National Human Rights Commission in 2023. Along with this, the commission praised the complainant and has asked the government to adopt an inclusive approach in such cases.
