Shubhanshu Shukla will go to the space station under the Axiom 4 mission. The crew will include members of India, Poland and Hungary.
Indian Astronaut will go to the International Space Station in May under Shubhinnu Shukla Axiom Mission 4. Union Minister Jitendra Singh gave this information on social media x on Friday.
Jitendra Singh wrote- India is ready to write a new chapter in its space trip. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla will become the first Indian to visit the International Space Station and the second Indian to go to space. Earlier, Rakesh Sharma traveled space in 1984 with a spacecraft of the Soviet Union.
In this mission, four astronauts from four countries are going to go to the space station for 14 days. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been selected for this mission under the agreement between NASA and ISRO.

Three more Astronauts will go with Shubhanshu The crew of the Axiom 4 mission includes members of India, Poland and Hungary. Slavose Uznansky will be the second Astronaut of Poland to Space after 1978. Tibor Kapu will be the second Astronaut of Hungary to Space after 1980. This is the second commercial human space flight mission of Paigi Whitson of American.

Four Astronauts going to the mission completed 8 months training in NASA. On April 12, the crew celebrated by cutting the cake.

Shubhanshu Shukla: Clear NDA and become IAF pilot
Shubhanshu Shukla is originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His early studies were completed from City Montessori School in Aliganj, Lucknow. After 12th, he cleared the entrance exam of the National Defense Academy (NDA) and from here he earned a graduation degree.
The NDA is a major institution training for officer cadets for the Armed Forces (Army Army, Navy and Air Force) in India. Along with training, it also gives academic degree, which is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.

Flying Experience of over 2,000 hours
Shubhanshu was included in the fighter wing of the Indian Air Force on 17 June 2006. He is an experienced fighter and test pilot. He has a flying experience of over 2,000 hours. He has flown fighter jets like Sukhoi-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier and AN-32.

In March 2024, Shubhanshu was promoted on the post of Group Captain. He is also a fighter combat leader.

All four Astronauts will fly in the dragon capsules
These Astronauts will fly in Ellon Musk’s Dragon Capsule in SpaceX. The mission will be launched from Falcon-9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The launch date will be declared according to the final approval and preparations for the mission.
Mission purpose
The main objective of AX-4 is to perform scientific research, technology performance in space. This mission is part of the plan of Axiom Space towards encouraging private space travel and setting up a commercial space station in future.

Private Space Mission is Austom 4
The Axiom Mission 4 is a private space flight mission. The mission is happening in the US private space company Axiom Space and NASA’s collabobation.
This is the fourth mission of the Axiom Space. The 17-day Mission Achom was launched on 1 April 2022. The second mission of Axiom was launched on 2 May 2023.
In this mission, four astronauts spent eight days in space. The third mission was launched on 3 January 2024, in which the crew spent 18 days at the space station.
What is International Space Station?
The International Space Station is a large spacecraft moving around the Earth. In this, astronauts live and experiment in micro gravity. It travels at a speed of 28,000 kmph. It completes the circumambulation of the Earth every 90 minutes. 5 space agencies have made it together. The first piece of the station was launched in November 1998.
