The Telangana government has issued an order to teach Telugu as a compulsory subject in all schools in the state from first to tenth grade. This rule will also be applicable in schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE), International Backloreate (IB) and other boards. This decision will be effective from academic session 2025-26.

Order and monitoring of schools
The government has also ensured that non-telugu speaking students do not have any kind of difficulty. For this, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has decided to include ‘Simple Telugu’ textbook ‘Vennela’ in the syllabus. This book has been specially designed for students whose mother tongue is not Telugu or who comes from other states. This will make it easier for students of CBSE and other boards to take the exam. The state government has issued instructions to all concerned schools to comply with this new order.
