Himachal Pradesh today signed a Memorandum (MOU) for 400 MW Celly and 120 MW Miyar Hydropower Projects to be established in Lahaul-Spiti with the Telangana government in Shimla. For the first time in the state, Telangana government should go to set up power project

These mous were signed by Energy Secretary Rakesh Kanwar on behalf of Himachal government in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Bhatti Vikramark Mallu and Principal Secretary Energy Sandeep Kumar Sultania on behalf of Himachal government. Both these projects will be set up on the Chenab River at an estimated cost of Rs 6200 crore.

Of these, about 5000 people will get direct and indirect employment. According to MOU, the Telangana government has paid Rs 26 crore as an advance premium amount. After the commencement of these projects, Himachal will be given 12 percent of the total power generation for 12 percent, 18 percent for the next 18 years and 30 percent free power for the last 10 years.

Government will take-over the project after 40 years After the completion of the 40 -year period, the Telangana government will hand over both these projects to Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, the Telangana government will spend 1.5 percent of the cost of both these projects on the local area development fund and in addition to providing one percent of the cost on providing free electricity to this sector.

100 units free electricity for 10 months to affected families The families affected by these two projects will be provided with the same financial benefits as 100 units per month. Chief Minister Sukhu has the beginning of a new era of interstate cooperation in the field of renewable energy.

He said that the state government will fully support the Telangana government in setting up both projects, so that their construction can be ensured within the stipulated time.

Government will not tolerate loot of state resources: Sukhu On this occasion, Chief Minister Sukhu said that the state government will not tolerate the loot of the state’s resources under any circumstances. The state government is making a major improvement in the power sector by considering water resources as the property of the state, so that Himachal Pradesh can become a self -sufficient state.

So far, 11,500 MW renewable energy has been exploited in the state, but most of this has been benefited by central public sector undertakings. Our government is determined to change this situation and the use of water resources of the state will ensure the economic prosperity of the people.
