Anthony Macri has become the first 410 sprint car driver to earn the 20 starts to open the National Sprint Car Rankings.
Unlike the regional standings, which are based on a driver’s best 20 starts, the National standing is based on a drivers overall best finishing average.
Macri has earned an overall finishing average of 9.952. While 35 drivers have double digit starts so far, no one else has reached the 20-start mark to qualify to be counted. Macri should be joined by some 16 other drivers who have 18 or 19 starts this year.
Twenty-one 410 winged sprint car races are scheduled this week.
All seven regions have now opened. The Northwest was the final region to run an event. Skagit’s opener was all it needed to kick into play.
Brock Zearfoss continues to lead the Eastern region, while Sam Hafertepe Jr. heads the Western region.
Carson Macedo stands on top of the Mid-America region, Cap Henry leads the Great Lakes division and Rico Abreu heads the Great Plains region. A.J. Flick (OH-PA) and Trey Starks (Northwestern) also lead regions.
Thirty-eight drivers have combined to win the 60 features run this season with David Gravel and Anthony Macri leading the way with five wins each.
