Indian batsman Shubman Gill has received the Award for the Indian Cricket Council i.e. ICC Player of the Month. He won the award, overtaking Steve Smith of Australia and Glenn Philips of New Zealand. This is Gill’s third Player of the Month Award. Earlier in 2023, he won it in January and September.

Shubman received the Player of the Series Award in the 3 -match ODI series played between India and England in February 2025.
In the 5 ODIs played in February, Shubman scored 406 runs at an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. He hit 3 consecutive fifty in the 3 -match ODI series played between India and England and scored 259 runs. India won this series 3–0.

Mohali shifted father Lakhwinder to make son a cricketer
Shubman Gill started playing cricket at an early age. Father Lakhwinder Singh Gill recognized Shubman’s cricket talent in childhood. Then Lakhwinder Singh shifted to Mohali leaving the farming of the village to make his son a cricketer. PCA admitted Shubman at the Cricket Academy of Mohali.
Shubman’s father has told in an interview that Shubman used to wake up at 3.30 am for cricket coaching and reached the academy at 4 am. He used to practice throughout the day and stood in the evening and looked at the session of senior players.

Shubman played almost every age group cricket. In 2014, he scored a brilliant 351 runs in Punjab’s Under-16 Inter District Tournament. At the same time, along with batsman Nirmal Singh, he also had a record partnership of 587 for Punjab in Under-16.
He scored a double century in the Vijay Merchant Trophy on Under-16 debut for Punjab. He also received BCCI’s Best Junior Cricketer Award in the years 2013-14 and 2014-15 due to such an unmatched performance.
