Shatrughan Sinha told in a recent interview that when Sanjay Dutt went to jail in the 90s, he was very worried. He wanted Sanjay to come out of jail as soon as possible. In such a situation, with the help of Bala Saheb Thackeray, Shatrughan Sinha and Rajendra Kumar got Sanjay Dutt out of jail. But after coming out of jail, Sanjay Dutt made a distance from Shatrughan Sinha.
In a conversation with Etimes, Shatrughan Sinha said, ‘Sunil Dutt was like an elder brother for me. I, Rajan Lal and Shashi Ranjan used to sit together every evening. But then suddenly there was a big crisis on Dutt Saheb’s head. His son Sanjay Dutt had to go to jail.
Shatrughan Sinha said, ‘We were all very upset when Sanjay Dutt was traveling around the jail. Wondering how to help them. It was our good fortune that Sher Balasaheb Thackeray of Maharashtra extended the hand of help and blessed Sanjay. With his help, Sanjay was able to come out of jail. If Balasaheb Thackeray did not help, Sanjay Dutt would not have come out of jail.
Shatrughan said, ‘When Sanjay came out of jail, my house also came to meet me. Those who helped him all gathered in Rajan Lal Place and met Sanjay. We all blessed him. However, Sanjay got away from me after that. I also tried to talk to him, but could not be contacted. This does not mean that Sanjay is not a good boy. But it may be that he has been busy with work or has not reached him that Shatrughan wants to meet him.

Sanjay Dutt was declared an accused for possessing illegal weapons in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast. He was kept in Yerwada Jail in Pune. Sanjay sentenced him in prison for nearly five years, but was released eight months ago due to good behavior.
