Saudi Arabia T20 League: Is it right to say that the popularity of cricket has increased at a fast pace due to the Indian Premier League? Perhaps yes, the brand value of the IPL has reached millions of crores and now the countries of the world are running at this footsteps to promote franchise cricket. A media report has revealed that Saudi Arabia is going to invest more than Rs 4,300 crore in a T20 league. It is reported that the format of this league can be kept as a tennis Grand Slam. According to the Australian newspaper ‘The Age’, such a T20 league has been discussed between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the SRJ Sports Investments for the last one year.
The report stated, “Work has been going on for more than a year on this concept. All -rounder Neil Maxwell, who played for the New South Wales and Victoria team in Australia, introduced the idea. Maxwell now manages Australian captain Pat Cummins.”
What will be the effect on other leagues
What went to the claim in this report that this league will not affect other leagues running around the world. The purpose of this league is to protect the future of cricket and promote this game. Whatever funds will be collected, small countries will be encouraged to play less profitable cricket.
Whatever teams will be formed, their strongholds will be made to the countries playing cricket. One of these will also be in Australia. This league will be started for both women and male cricketers. The final match can be played in Saudi Arabia.
