Russia Export Wheat Fertiliser Bangladesh Talk on Nuclear Power Plant Muhammad Yunus Before Vladimir Putin India Visit

Mohammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, said on Thursday (27 March 2025) that Bangladesh will now import more wheat and fertilizer from Russia.

Mohammad Yunus met Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexi Overchuk during the Boao Forum Conference for Asia held in China. After this, he told that Bangladesh is eager to deal with Russia in the field of energy as well. During this meeting, the two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest. In this meeting, many issues including Russia’s funds from Bangladesh’s Ruppur nuclear power plant, wheat and fertilizer imported were discussed.

‘Financial issues related to power plant were resolved’

According to a Dhaka Tribune report, Mohammad Yunus said, “Financial issues related to Rooppur power plant have been resolved. Bangladesh has deposited money in a bank account in Dhaka.” He said that by testing the power plant by the difference of this year, electricity is expected to start production.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia stressed on increasing the contact between the two countries and said that we want a large number of Bangladeshi students to come to Russia to study. He said that Russia would like to export more wheat and fertilizer to Bangladesh. The talks on these issues between Russia-Bangladesh are taking place at a time when Vladimir Putin has been decided during India.

Putin will visit India

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov said on Thursday (27 March 2025) that Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India and preparations are being made for this. Lavrov said that Prime Minister Modi’s first foreign trip was from Russia after being re -elected last year. He said that it is our turn now.
