Mohan Bhagwat said- Shivaji Maharaj is our ideal today.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat said at a book launch event in Nagpur on Wednesday- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ended the tradition of defeating foreign invaders in the country for centuries. He broke the cycle of attacks in the country. Hence they are called Yugpurush.
Bhagwat said- This tradition of losing war continued from the time of Alexander the Great to the major attacks in the name of spreading Islam. India’s systems were destroyed. The Vijayanagara Empire and the kings of Rajasthan could not find any solution to this.
India continued to struggle with the tradition of defeat for a long time. The Maratha Empire was established in the 17th century. Shivaji Maharaj was the first person to find a solution to such attacks and invasions. The period of continuous defeat to foreign invaders ended with the rise of Shivaji Maharaj.
Mohan Bhagwat said-
Shivaji Maharaj’s inspiration is still relevant today. Great personalities like Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda also took inspiration from Shivaji.
Aurangzeb’s prison won his fort Recalling the valor of Shivaji Maharaj, Bhagwat said- When Aurangzeb imprisoned him in Agra, he left his fort again. He won what he had agreed to give in the peace agreement and established himself as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His coronation became a symbol of the end of these invaders.
Bhagwat released the book ‘Yugandhar Shivrai’, the late Sumant Tekade, who wrote several books on the Maratha rulers in Nagpur.
Shivaji Maharaj won parts of South India. Taking inspiration from them, rulers like Durgadas Rathore in Rajasthan, Chhatrasal in Bundelkhand and Chakradhwaj Singh in Northeast also started pushing the Mughals back. Chakradhwaj Singh wrote a letter to another king, in which Shivaji Maharaj was described as an ideal. Also, giving the example of Shivaji, told the plan to immerse the demons in the Bay of Bengal.
Bhagwat said- Shivaji our ideal Bhagwat said, an actor in South India acted in a film on Shivaji, after which he changed from Ganesan to Shivaji Ganesan.
RSS founders Keshav Hedgewar, Madhavrao Golwalkar and Balasaheb Deoras said at different times that the work of the Sangh is in principle, the work of the Sangh is not personal. We always walk, people keep coming and going, that is why Nirguna worship is difficult. Hanuman was ideal for us in mythological period, Shivaji Maharaj is an ideal in this modern era.
