1. Justice BR Gawai will be the 52nd Chief Justice of the country Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna has officially recommended the name of Justice BR Gawai as his successor. His name has been sent to the Union Law Ministry for approval. With this, Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gawai has been decided to become the 52nd Chief Justice of India.
Justice Gawai will be the second Dalit CJI of the country, before that Justice KG Balakrishnan (2007) became the Chief Justice of India.
- The tradition is that the current CJI recommends the name of his successor only when he is urged to do so.
- The term of the current CJI Sanjeev Khanna ends on 13 May.
- Justice Gavai is named in the seniority list after CJI Khanna, hence Justice Khanna has put his name forward.
- Justice Gawai’s term will be only 7 months.
2. Meerabai Chanu became the chairman of IWLF Athlete Commission On April 15, Indian Weightlifter Meerabai Chanu was elected chairman of the Indian Weight Lifting Federation i.e. IWLF Athletes Commission.

- Apart from Chanu, S., who won the gold medal in the two -time Commonwealth Games. Satish Kumar has been appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Commission.
- The term of both will be 4 years.
- Chanu won the silver by lifting a total weight of 202 kg in the 49 kg category of women at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
- He won the Gold Medal at the Penang Commonwealth Games Championships in 2013, which was his first title internationally.

1. 2 seats of all courses of DU’s new Veer Savarkar College will be reserved
On April 16, Delhi University has announced that its new Veer Savarkar College will reserve two seats for students of Roshanpura village in Najafgarh in every courses. One of these seats will be specially kept for a girl student, so that girls education can be promoted.

The university says that this is a tribute to the villagers who donated land for the construction of the college. This new college is being built at a distance of just 5 minutes from the West Campus of DU and its construction will cost about 140 crores.
2. Uttarakhand Board Result will be released on April 19
Uttarakhand Board of School Education, also known as Uttarakhand School Education Council, will release the results of class 10th and 12th board examinations on April 19.
The results will be declared at the press conference at around 11 am.
After the result is released, candidates appearing in the examination can check their results by visiting the official website ubse.uk.gov.in and uaresults.nic.in. For this, candidates will be able to see the results by entering their login credentials like roll number, date of birth and registration number.
