PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Asia’s first vertical lift Spanish Railway Bridge (Pamban Bridge) on Sunday 6 April in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. The foundation of the 2.08 km long bridge was laid by Modi in November 2019. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin did not attend the program due to language dispute.

The Bridge connects Rameswaram (Pamban Island) to the mandapam of Tamil Nadu, the mainland of India. It is designed for double track and high-speed trains.

The new bridge made of steel has a polysiloxen coating, which will protect it from rust and sea salty water. The old bridge was closed in 2022 due to war. Since then, the rail connectivity between Rameswaram and Mandapam was over.

2. On 4 -day visit to President Murmu Portugal and Slovakia

President Draupadi Murmu started her four -day state visit to Portugal and Slovakia from 7 to 10 April late (local time) reached Lisbon in Portugal late on Sunday.

She is visiting Portugal at the invitation of Portugal President Marcello Rebelo de Susa. This journey is taking place after 27 years. The last state visit took place in 1998 when President KR Narayanan visited Portugal.

1. SSC lodged FIR on candidates

The SSC i.e. Staff Selection Commission has registered an FIR against a candidate. According to SSC, a female candidate claimed that SSC CGL Level-1 was found 103 numbers, which was more than the cut-off score.

In SSC CGL recruitment 2022, a female candidate Mansi Trilog has submitted fake documents. SSC has started an investigation against it.

According to the FIR, the candidate Mansi had applied an application on 20 July 2022 and the result should be revolved once more, but when the verification was done, it was revealed that the marksheet she had submitted was fake and her numbers were actually 46.77, so that she was inability for SSC CGL Phase-2.

A case has been registered under Section 420 (fraud, 465 (forgery), 467, 467 of the Indian Penal Code. Delhi Police Crime Branch is investigating it.

2. Central Government will launch Deendayal Jan Aajeevika Yojana (DJAY-S)

The central government is going to start Deendayal Jan Aajeevika Yojana (DJAY-S) to provide jobs and social security. The focus of the central government will now be on the workers of the unorganized sector after women. This will be the extension of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana launched in 2014 for urban poor, which ended in 2024.

Now, it has also included transport, construction, domestic, waste, care and gig workers along with urban poor. Its pilot project was started in 25 cities of 13 states of the country. It also included Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

Under this, a personal loan of up to 4 lakhs and a group loan of up to 20 lakhs will be given. After this pilot project, which lasted till 31 March, is now ready to implement it in the entire state.

The MP government has added dear sisters to this scheme of the Center. They will get the benefit of the central government’s insurance scheme. In this, people of all classes will be registered online and they will be given an identity card.
