Kannada actress Ranya Rao, caught with 14.2 kg of gold at Bengaluru International Airport, is a threat to the security of the country. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) said this in court on Thursday. Ranya is the daughter of DGP Ramchandra Rao of Karnataka Police Housing Corporation.
Ranya was arrested on 3 March. On Thursday, Ranya’s three -day custody was sought from DRI court. The agency argued that they had to find out where the payment was brought from, what was the way to hide it and where it was to be used.
The agency also said in the court that the matter may be a serious threat to national security, so strict inquiries from the accused are necessary. The court will hear this demand of DRI today.
Dri suspects on Ranya’s visit to 45 countries
According to DRI, according to Ranya’s passport records and available data, she has gone to Dubai 27 times so far and has traveled to a total of 45 countries. The investigating agency says that Ranya does not do any regular job and she does not even have so many film projects that can make the reason for traveling abroad so many times.
Ranya in 14 days judicial custody
After the arrest, Ranya Rao was produced in court. From where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Ranya Kannada has worked in the film Manikya and Patki. Ranya hid gold by putting tape on her body, thighs and waist. He used modified jackets and wrist belts to hide gold in clothes.
Sources claim that Ranya gets 1 lakh rupees for bringing every kg of gold. In this way, he earned 12 to 13 lakh rupees in every trip. According to DRI officials, Ranya Rao returned to India from Dubai via Emirates Flight. Security agencies were already monitoring their activity, as they had gone to Dubai 4 times in the last 15 days.
Ranya was hiding gold in her clothes. The price of which is 12.56 crores. Apart from this, the police also raided his house. Gold worth 2 crore and cash of Rs 2 crore was recovered from there.
DRI’s Delhi team was already aware of Ranya’s involvement in gold smuggling. So on March 3, the officers reached the airport two hours before the land of his flight.

After Ranya’s arrest, DGP Ramchandra Rao said- I have nothing to do with Ranya. There is no black spot on my career. She is living separately with her husband.

In this case, Congress MLA AS Ponnna said that in such a case, DGP’s daughter is stuck. He is an accused and involved in smuggling activities. The law will do its job. Whether she is the daughter of DGP, the daughter of the common man, the daughter of the Chief Minister or the daughter of the Prime Minister. There are all goods for the law.
At the same time, BJP MLA Dr. Bharat Shetty Y said that if this is true and it includes the local police then it is an abuse of power. The government should take strict action on this.
