The campground is situated alongside the picturesque and peaceful Quatse River, which is a very active 🐟 fish spawning river.
Each evening we enjoyed walking and sitting along the river bank, watching the hundreds of 🐟 fish jumping from the water, in search of their evening meal!
At the time of our stay in July, the river was exceptionally low. This was due to a very long period of unusually dry weather. The river is generally much higher. Further up the river you will find beautiful water holes, with fish jumping all over the place!
This is also a very popular feeding area for 🐻 black bears living in the surrounding forest.
Hike The Quatse River Loop and Estuary Trail
Take in the beautiful scenery with an easy 🥾 2.5 km riverside loop, or side trail leading to a wildlife-viewing platform in the estuary.
As well, you can also venture straight into town, on a well-maintained community trail along the {Quatse River} and shoreline of Hardy Bay.
Note:
This is; Bear and Cougar Country, so do pay attention to the signs posted, and ask staff for recent sightings or hiking advice during your stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this nature park located in northern {Vancouver Island} in the beautiful Province of British Columbia.
Staff are very friendly and happy to assist you in any way they can, when on duty.
