Till now, Khalistani terrorist organizations in Punjab were targeting police posts. Now for the first time a blast has been done near a policeman’s house. There have been 11 blasts in Punjab before this. SSP Batala Suhail Qasim Mir informed that it was a low-entity explosion. It is too early to say grenade attack. The blast is being investigated. Only then more information can be shared.
Alert police amidst blast incidents
This is the 12th blast in Punjab. Most of which were reported in Amritsar. Since then, some changes have been made in the police stations and police posts of the border belt.
Steps taken to protect police stations and posts …
- Bet outside police stations: Special nets and barricades are being installed around police stations and posts. This arrangement has been made to prevent grenades and other explosives from reaching the police station.
- Security cameras: Every activity is being monitored by installing CCTV cameras in sensitive areas.
- Deployment of additional security forces: Additional security forces have been deployed at sensitive police stations. Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Special Task Force (STF) have also been deployed.
- Drone Monitoring: Drone is being monitored in police stations and crowded areas, so that any suspicious activity can be caught immediately.
- Intelligence network strengthened: Monitoring has been intensified on suspicious persons and organizations by activating local intelligence agencies.
The small wall of the police station in Amritsar has been raised. This will help prevent something from coming in from outside.
11 blasts in Punjab before this
24 November- RDX was installed outside the Ajnala police station. However, it did not torn. Its responsibility was taken by Happy Passian, while the police have caught 2 accused in this case. Hand grenades were also recovered from them.
27 November- There was a grenade explosion at a closed police post in Gurbaksh Nagar. The attack was also held in the closed post.
2 December- There was a grenade explosion at Kathgarh police station in SBS Nagar. In this case too, 3 terrorists were arrested by the police and weapons were recovered from them.
4 December- When there was a grenade explosion at Majitha police station, the police refused to accept the attack. Police said that the tire of one of his workers’s bike was torn. However, former MLA from the area Bikram Majithia described it as a terrorist incident with pictures of the police station.
13 December- There was a grenade explosion at Aliwal Batala police station. The responsibility of this incident was also taken by Happy Passes and his partner. This incident was also carried out at night.
17 December- Grenade explosion was carried out at Islamabad police station. When the news spread in the morning, the police commissioner and the local police did not call it a blast, but in the afternoon, DGP Punjab itself reached Amritsar and they admitted that it was a terrorist incident and the bomb was burst.
19 December- A terrorist attack on Bakshiwala, a closed police post in Gurdaspur district, adjacent to the India-Pakistan border of Punjab. The terrorists threw grenade at the auto seized by the police in a case.
21 December- The police outpost of Banga Wadala village in Kalanaur area of Gurdaspur was shocked at night. Babbar Khalsa International was also responsible for this attack.
19 January- There was a blast at Gumtala outpost in Amritsar. Babbar Khalsa International took responsibility for this.
16 January- A grenade attack took place at the house of liquor businessman Amandeep Jaintipuria at night in village Jaintipur in Amritsar district.
3 February- The police post located at Fatehgarh Chudiya Road in Amritsar was targeted by the terrorists. This was also a low intensity explosion and the police refused to consider it a grenade attack.
