Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of late actor Manoj Kumar. The PM has sent a letter to Manoj Kumar’s wife Shashi Goswami. In which he praised the actor’s contribution and remembered the moments spent with him. During this, he described the late Manoj Kumar as the true icon of Indian cinema.

The PM wrote in his letter that Manoj Kumar has not only entertained everyone with acting but has also done the work of showing patriotism and honesty on the big screen. His films have been awakening the feelings of pride and respect for the country in the hearts of Indians for decades.
PM said- I will always remember the meeting with them
Prime Minister Modi also recalled his personal meetings with the late Manoj Kumar while writing the letter and said that he had met Manoj Kumar several times. The PM wrote, “I will always remember my meetings with Manoj Kumar ji.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi mourned the death of Manoj Kumar on his X handle. He wrote, ‘Famous actor and film maker Mr. Manoj Kumar’s death was very sad. He was an icon of Indian cinema and is especially remembered for his patriotic films. Manoj ji’s work has awakened the spirit of national pride and inspired generations to come. Actor was known as Bharat Kumar
Manoj Kumar died on April 04 at the age of 87. He breathed his last at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. He is also known as Bharat Kumar for making patriotic films.
Manoj Kumar was struggling with liver cirrhosis for a long time. He was admitted to the hospital on 21 February 2025 after his condition deteriorated.
Funeral performed with state honors
Manoj Kumar was cremated on Saturday, April 05 with state honors. His body was wrapped in a tricolor at the Pawanhans crematorium in Juhu in Mumbai. Here he was also given 21 cannon salutes.
