What is NIA and what does this agency do?
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is a central investigating agency of the Government of India, which was established in 2009 after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Its main task is to investigate big cases like terrorism, fake currency, drug smuggling, human trafficking and organized crime.
How to get a job in NIA?
There are two main routes to become officers in NIA. Through the SSC CGL exam, which gets the post of sub-inspector. Through UPSC exam, posting can be found in NIA by selecting posts like IPS, IRS. Apart from this, people who are already working in a law enforcement agency can also join NIA through transfer or deputation.

What is SSC CGL exam process?
The SSC CGL exam is in four stages (Tier 1 to Tier 4). Physical tests and interviews occur after passing all stages. Successful candidates are appointed to posts like Sub-Inspector after training in NIA.
What is the salary of the NIA officer?
As a sub-inspector, an officer appointed in the NIA gets an initial salary of about Rs 56,100. Apart from this, central allowances, travel facilities, house rent allowance and special risk allowance are also available. Also, salary and facilities on the higher post increase further.
