Late actor Om Puri’s ex-wife and filmmaker Seema Kapoor is currently in the news for her biography ‘Yun Pari Ka Hai Talak’. Meanwhile, he talked about his relationship with Om Puri. He said that Om Puri hurt me a lot. But the sufferings and insults he faced in his last years was not entitled to him.
In a conversation with Galata India, Seema Kapoor said, when someone does something wrong with you, but you are embarrassed yourself. Something similar happened to me. Except me, when Puri ji did a second marriage, I was feeling ashamed along with being unhappy. However, a lot of good and bad was written in the media about Puri ji. But no one tried to understand our relationship.

When Puri ji reached the court to divorce me, I did not say anything against him, which reduces his respect. Nor did I give any interview somewhere. Today Puri ji is not among us to present his side. In such a situation, our responsibility increases even more that we do not say anything that we cannot see ourselves.
Seema said, I met Om Puri ji in 1979. My elder brother Ranjit Kapoor was preparing comedy play ‘Scorpion’. Om Puri ji came to work in it. Om ji felt that he could not do comedy, but Ranjit Bhaiya was confident that he could do a very good comedy. After that play, Om Puri ji acted in comedy films like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’.
Om ji was my elder brother’s friend and 10 years older than me. I loved his caring nature, but then there was no feeling like love in the mind. Gradually, we became friends and then we fell in love. When my father is no more in this world, Om ji came to our house to decide the marriage with his father. We got married after 1990 i.e. 11 years.
Seema further said, after this another woman (Nandita Puri) came in Puri ji’s life. So he wanted to separate from me. Hearing this was a lot of trouble for me. When Puri ji talked about separation, I was pregnant. At that time, I lost my love as well and the upcoming children. It was difficult to get out of that grief. But seeing my mother, I handled myself.

Then I made myself busy in a career. Perhaps God wanted to make me stronger so he hurt me so much. It was not so easy for a woman to go through a divorce situation 35 years ago. But instead of breaking, I strengthened myself and searched for new ways of life.
Seema said, her (Om Puri) last ten years of life was very sad. He was never entitled to this. He worked very hard in his life. Struggled without compromising his ideals.
Seema Kapoor said, ‘I have never made public the troubles of our relationship. I myself left them and left. And when he apologized, I forgive him. A big heart is required to apologize. When I did not defame them at that time, why should I do it now? ‘
Marriage did not go on for a year
Seema Kapoor married Om Puri in 1991, but her marriage lasted for less than a year. Om Puri later applied for divorce and married journalist Nandita Puri. However, he again joined Seema Kapoor again after 14 years and remained closely related to both till his death in 2017.
