She was the actress Nutan Bahl, who has passed 34 years since this world has passed.
In the initial stages, he got taunts of becoming ugly. Some people taunted her dark color, due to which she did not consider herself beautiful. But when she won the title of Miss India, the same people did not get tired of praising her.
Films with Woman Centric Roll became his identity. He changed the tradition of using actresses in the film industry only as a showpiece. She was even the first actress to participate in Miss India. She was also the first actress to wear swimsuits in Hindi films.
Nutan, who won every battle of her life, lost and lost to cancer. Nutan was in a bad state in the last days. She used to scream. The day Nutan came to know about cancer, he said- today I Sutli. That is, today I became free.

Used to understand herself ugly, Mughal-e-Azam had turned down
In the year 1945, Nutan started his acting career as a child artist from the film Nal Damayanti. When she was 14 years old, she got the role of Anarkali in the film Mughal-e-Azam. But she considered herself ugly, due to which she refused to do this film. However, then in 1950 the film worked in Hamari Daughter. The film was made by his mother Shobhana Samarth. Nutan’s younger sister in the film was played by his real sister Tanuja.
Nutan was the first actress to become Miss India
Nutan won the title of Miss India in the year 1952. At that time he was just 16 years old. She was the first Indian actress to win the title. The special thing is that there were two Miss India pageants that year. One became Indrani Rahman in one and Nutan in the other. In this event, Nutan was also crowned Miss Mussoorie. At the same time, Nutan worked in films like Hamalog, Sheesham, Parbat and Arosh till the adult. After this she went to London.

First big break in Bollywood from ‘Seema’
After coming from London, Nutan got the first big break in Bollywood through the film Seema. Apart from him, Balraj Sahni and Shobha Khote were seen in it. The film was directed by Amiya Chakraborty. Nutan received Filmfare’s Best Actress Award for this film. After this, his film career got a different identity.
He then worked with Dev Anand in films like Paying Guest (1957), Raj Kapoor with Anari (1959), Sunil Dutt with Sujata (1959) and Dilip Kumar with Karma (1986). But in the 1963 film Bandini, he played the role of a young prisoner, in which his performance was highly praised.
Nutan wanted to leave film career after marriage
When Nutan was just 23 years old in 1959, she married Lieutenant Commander Rajneesh Bahl. Nutan wanted to leave her film career after marriage. Then director Bimal Roy brought him to the film Bandini. But Nutan turned down the film’s offer. Then when husband Rajneesh explained to him, he agreed to do this film. The film became the best film of his career. Nutan also received the Filmfare Best Actress Award for this film. She was also pregnant during the shooting of the film.
Nutan had earlier also worked with the film Sujata with Bimal Roy and Nutan had also received the Filmfare Best Actress Award for that film.

At the same time, after nearly two years of marriage, Nutan gave birth to Mohnish Bahl, who is a well-known actor of Bollywood. He has played negative roles in many films. During a show, he talked about his parents’s love story. He said, ‘His love story remains a mystery even today. Nobody knows how they met, but I have made a imagination. Since my father was in the Royal Navy, perhaps my mother may have gone on the ship and he must have met there. Then both fell in love and got married.
Mohnish also told, ‘The father did not know that the mother is such a big superstar. When he came to know that he shocked and used to say what I did. Because the more money he used to meet a film, the more salary used to be of my father’s head officer. However, my mother was aware of Papa’s insufficiency. So he never showed his stardom. She used to go by Papa’s car on the shoot and the responsibility of household expenses was also on Papa.

Nutan’s stardom did not reduce even after marriage
It is often seen in the film industry that if an actress gets married, then her career slowly starts to mold. But this was not the case with Nutan, because even after marriage, filmmakers were ready to cast him in his films. Before taking him in the film, it was ensured that the role of the female lead was empowered and it was equal to the hero.
Sanjeev Kumar was slapped by the news of the affair
It is said that during the shooting of the film Devi in 1969, Nutan slapped Sanjeev Kumar publicly. Actually, when the shooting of the film started, the two did not know each other. Then gradually they became friends. After this, reports of their affair started appearing in some media reports. This also caused a lot of quarrel between Nutan and her husband. But when Nutan read the news of himself and Sanjeev Kumar’s affair in a magazine on the set of Devi, he got very angry.
When he talked to Sanjeev Kumar about this, he reacted with great care on this whole thing. Nutan felt bad about this and slapped Sanjeev Kumar in front of everyone on the set of the film. Later there were reports that Nutan did this at the behest of her husband Rajneesh.

Tehelka was wearing swimsuits in the 50s
In the 50s or 60s, women’s work in the film industry was considered a very big thing. In such a decade, Nutan surprised everyone by wearing a swimsuit. The actress gave shots wearing swimming costumes in her film Delhi Ka Thug. Later actresses like Shabana and Smita Patil were also inspired by her.

Court went against mother, talk of not 20 years
Nutan was launched by his mother in films. But there was a time in the lives of both of them when their relationship had deteriorated considerably. In fact, Nutan accused his mother of wrongdoing the money earned by him and without his will.
Because of this, he had even filed a court case against the mother. Because of this, the conversation of both of them remained closed for 20 years. Nutan was so upset with her mother that once Nutan got off the flight to see her on the flight. Shobhana Samarth had said on the behavior of the daughter that she was provoked by her husband Rajneesh to do so.
Death died of breast cancer
In 1990, Nutan finds out breast cancer. At that time she was working in thunder and humanity films. The producer of the film asked Nutan to shoot his share. But the actress refused, saying that she does not have much time. While the thunder could never be released on the one hand, on the other hand, after the death of Nutan and Vinod Mehra, the Humanity film was changed to the cast in 1994.
Nutan’s close friend Lalitha told her book Nutan-Somen Mi .. Nasen Mi that Nutan started the disease with a stinging pain. It felt as if something was getting pricking. Then in the year 1990, he came to know about cancer, then Nutan said today. That is, today I became free. Gradually, his health started deteriorating. He was then admitted to the hospital, but died on 21 February 1991 at the age of just 54.
After Nutan’s funeral, mother came home, said- let me eat
Shobhana Samarth had told in an interview that after Nutan’s death she did not even realize her leaving. After the funeral of the daughter, she went home and sought food from the servants. He felt as if Nutan was not dead. Nothing has happened. According to him, the desire to live in Nutan was over. She did not want to live.

Grandma’s films changed my thinking- Pranutan
Nutan’s granddaughter and actor Mohnish Bahl’s daughter, Pranutan spoke to Dainik Bhaskar. He said unfortunately I never met my grandmother, because he died in 1991. I was born in 1993. So I have no personal memories, but through his cinema we have all felt him very closely.
For me, Bandini was the film that inspired me to become an actor. This film had a very profound impact on me and changed my thinking as an actor.
Always be with grandmother, so my name was Pranutan
Pranutan said- My grandfather had named me, because he wanted my grandmother’s name to be associated with me. He wanted to give me a new name, but Papa felt that it would be a bit strange for him – calling his mother’s name directly. So my grandfather made this name for me – Pranutan, which means new life.
