The Sikkim government has started charging an entry fee of ₹ 50 for tourists. This fee has been implemented from this month under Sikkim Registration of Tourist Trade Rules 2025.
This fee will be charged during check-in at hotels and will be deposited in Tourism Sustainability Development (TSD) fund, which will be used to improve tourism structure and services.
Children under 5 years of age have been exempted from this fee. Every tourist staying in Sikkim for 30 days will have to pay this charge, while after coming again after a month, fees will be charged again.
The government will use this revenue for improving road connectivity, increasing hygiene and development of tourism facilities, so that tourists can get better experience.
