Five other employees of Odisha’s private engineering college Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) were arrested on Thursday. They are accused of attacking Nepali students.
According to the police, the CCTV footage has revealed that on February 17, students were vacating hostels. Then the college suddenly reached there and asked the students to leave as soon as possible.
When the hostel was delayed, the accused were enraged and beat up the students. The court has sent everyone to judicial custody for 14 days. Earlier, six people, including 3 directors of the college, were arrested. However, 5 has been granted bail.

In the suicide case, 3 directors, 2 guards and a student of KIIT were arrested on 17 February in the suicide case. In this, the directors and guards have got bail. It is claimed that the student was the boyfriend of the Nepali student. He was the one who provoked the student to commit suicide.
To investigate the matter, the Odisha government has constituted the High Level Fact Finding Committee with Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development Department and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Higher Education Department.
Students say that despite the complaints, the college tried to suppress the case instead of taking action against the accused student.
