8 -day journey from Boeing’s Starlineer was 9 months old

Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmore went to the space station on 5 June 2024 in the Starlineer Spacecraft of Boeing. After 8 days, he had to return to Earth from this spacecraft, but this could not happen due to technical fault. The spacecraft was dispatched from the space station without a crew. Now it has been about 9 months since these astronauts stuck in the space station. This was Boeing’s testing mission.

After reaching the space station on 6 June, Starlineer Crew Flight Test Commander Buch Wilmore and Pilot Sunita Williams crew.

Why was Sunita and Wilmore sent to the space station?

Sunita and Buch went to Wilmore Boeing and NASA’s joint ‘Crew Flight Test Mission’. It was Sunita, a pilot of spacecraft. Buch Wilmore, who accompanied him, was the commander of this mission. Both were to come back to Earth after staying at the International Space Station (ISS) for 8 days.

At the time of launch, Boeing Defense, Space and Security President and CEO Ted Colbert described it as a magnificent beginning of the new era of Space Research. The main objective of this mission was to prove the ability to bring back the astronauts of the spacecraft to the space station.

Astronauts also had to do research and several experiments in 8 days at the space station. Sunita and Wilmore are the first Astronauts sent to Space Travel via Atlas-V rocket. During this mission, he was also manually flying the spacecraft. Many types of objectives related to flight tests were also to be completed.

How Sunita and Wilmore got stuck in space for so long?

It had many problems since the launch of Starlineer Spacecraft. Due to these, the launch had failed several times before June 5. Even after the launch, there was news of problems in the spacecraft.

NASA reported that there is a small helium leak in the thruster of the service module of the spacecraft. A spacecraft consists of several thresters. With their help, spacecraft changes its way and speed. At the same time, there is pressure on the rocket due to helium gas. His structure remains strong, which helps the rocket to its flight.

After the launch, 5 heliums leaked in Spacecraft capsules in 25 days. 5 thrusters had stopped working. In addition, a propalent valve could not be completely discontinued. The crew present in the space and the managers of the mission sitting in Houston, USA could not fix it either.
