MS Dhoni IPL Retirement: Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also one of the greatest players and captains of IPL. He has won the Indian Premier League title to Chennai Super Kings five times. In IPL 2024, Dhoni was broken by his stormy strike rate on the opposing bowlers. He scored 161 runs playing at a strike rate of last season 220. But only two matches of IPL 2025 have made MS Dhoni a villain from hero.
MS Dhoni became Villain
MS Dhoni has scored 76 runs in four matches so far in IPL 2025. He has batting in all four matches of CSK in the tournament and has been continuously failing to finish the match for his team. Especially two matches of IPL 2025 have made him the biggest villain. The first match was against RCB, in which Dhoni scored 30 runs in 16 balls. The Chennai team had to chase a big goal, so Dhoni came to bat on the ninth order. Dhoni and CSK were also trolled because Ravichandran Ashwin was sent to bat above them. As a result, CSK lost by 50 runs in that match.
In the match against Delhi Capitals, Dhoni had to be trolled due to a very slow innings. Dhoni came to bat in the 11th over in the match against Delhi, Vijay Shankar was set at the crease at the other end. On one hand, Shankar scored 69 runs playing at a strike rate of only 128. At the same time, Dhoni scored 30 runs with a slow strike of 115. The target of 184 runs in front was, yet Dhoni’s fast batting became a big reason for CSK’s defeat.
Dhoni’s retirement pressure
Dhoni is considered one of the best finishers in the world. Till now he has batting in all four matches in IPL 2025, but despite being the best finisher in the world, he has failed to win CSK. The ghost of retirement has fallen behind ‘Tala’, batting at a lower order and batting at a slow strike rate.
