Pranutan Bahl, who is the granddaughter of the late actress Nutan and the daughter of Mohnish Bahl, is going to debut in Hollywood soon. She will play the lead role in the film ‘Coco & Nut’, in which she will also be accompanied by actor Rahsan Noor. The film is based on a romantic story and will be released in 2025.

Hollywood debut is a big opportunity for Pranutan and he is very excited about it. In a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, he openly discussed his career and this new project.

How did this project get and what was the reason for choosing it?

I am very happy. This is a big thing for me. My character in this film is very beautiful and it is a completely romantic film. My first film ‘Notebook’ was also romantic, but it did not have that much investment from my mail lead. But this time it is a completely romantic love story and I got a chance to do it after a long wait.

Actually, this film first came to me in 2019. At that time, talks were going on about this, but then Kovid came. This made it difficult to make a film. But after watching the film ‘Notebook’, the makers felt that I would be perfectly fit for this character.

At the end of 2023, I was again approached for this film and we decided to pursue it. It is expected that the shooting of the film will begin this year.

After becoming a part of the Hollywood project, there was any change in your approach? Did this make you think as an actor in a new way?

See, nowadays there is no limit to the industry. Whatever work you do, it reaches people on some platform. For me, this is not just a ‘Hollywood debut’, but a new experience.

My thinking has always been simple – do any project, do it with full heart and hard work. Whether it is Hindi cinema, Telugu industry or Hollywood, the real identity in the Creative Field is made from your performance, not from your language. When you play a character with truth and honesty, it looks on the screen. This is the most important thing.

Did you feel any difference between the work process of Bollywood and Hollywood?

If the shooting has not started yet, it will be a little early to talk in details on it. But yes, as soon as there will be the first take on the set, the camera will roll and the scene will begin, then I will feel that what are the differences in the work process. Then I will be able to share my experience better.

In 2019, you made their debut with the film Notebook. How do you see your journey so far?

If I look back, then these six years actor and humans have been teaching a lot.

When made in 2019, everything was new, energy was at different level. Then Kovid arrived and everything changed. Our batch debutants have really adjusted a lot. We were very hostile, but then had to deal with the effect that was done after the pedamic.

Kovid shocked the industry, especially casting. There was so much confusion about investing and earning in films that a lot changed. But one thing that is always there is hard work.

I think, our batch is a little rare, because we have faced both pre-coved and post-cool. We have worked hard and it will always continue. This journey was not easy, but got to learn something new with every challenge.

Let me tell you, after ‘Notebook’, Pranutan appeared in ‘Helmet’ in 2021 and ‘Amar Prem Ki Prem Kahani’ in 2024.
