Journalist Mithali Mukherjee has been appointed as the director of the Reuters Institute for Journalism Study on 8 April. He has been selected from the open process for this post, which was held in the last week of March. Mithali was working as a acting director since Rasamsam Nielsen left the post in last October. Nielsen was the director of the institute from 2018 to 2024.
Mithali Mukherjee is a political journalist. He has more than two decades of experience in TV, print and digital journalism.
Mithali was a gold medalist from IIMC Delhi
Mithali was born in Ambala, Haryana. He was schooling from Delhi Army Public School. He studied political science honors from Delhi University in 2000 and was a gold medalist. In 2001, she was a gold medalist in television journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi. Along with this, Masters degree was done in Special Education and Teaching.
The Sheling Scholar is a scholarship given by the UK government under South Asia Journalism Fellowship. It is a program to recognize leadership.
Along with this, Mithali has also talked about topics like financial empowerment and strong journalism in TEDX programs.
Mithali is the co-founder of The Manimile
His book is based on crime associated with Crypto Crime, Cryptocurrency and Cyber Security. He is the co-founder of The Manimile. It is a digital platform, especially focused on financial awareness among women.
The Red Ink Awards for excellence in journalism are given by the Mumbai Press Club. Mukherjee leads the journalist program from September 2022. She has also been associated with institutions such as Think Tank and Observer Research Foundation (ORF), where she has contributed to discussions on Economic Policy and Administration.
Oxford University’s Research Center is Reuters
The Reuters Institute gets funds from the Thomson Reuters Foundation. The Reuters Institute is called ‘Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism’. It is a research center of Oxford University, which studies on issues affecting news media worldwide.
CEO Antonio Zapullah of the Foundation said: ‘I want to congratulate Mithali on achieving the leadership of one of the world’s most prestigious research centers working to carry forward the future of journalism.’
