WOKING, United Kingdom — Already a key player in Formula 1, IndyCar and Formula E, McLaren revealed plans to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship beginning in 2027.
The news came via a video clip on social media, as the racing conglomerate will compete in the Hypercar division.
“Excited that McLaren Racing will return to one of the world’s most challenging global racing series, the @FIAWEC from 2027 onwards,” McLaren CEO Zak Brown posted on X. “Le Mans 1995 is where we secured a legendary win at the first attempt, and I can’t wait for the team to make history once again. We’re back!”
Details of the program have yet to be announced, but it seems likely the effort will be fielded by United Autosports, which Brown co-owns with Richard Dean.
