On the first day of the free traffic movement in Manipur, 40 people were injured in a clash between security forces and protesters on Saturday. Normal movement was started in all areas from March 8 in the state, which was opposed by people from the Cookie community.
Officials said that an indefinite bandh has been called by cookie-groups against the security forces’s action. The situation in Kangpokpi district on Sunday morning is tense but calm. Additional security forces have been deployed here.
The Manipur police said in a statement that the protesters had opened fire on the security forces. Kullle has also been used. Glasses of 5 vehicles of security forces were damaged. During the clash, 16 protesters were injured and one protesting died due to injuries.

ITLF supports indefinite bandh Cookie-Joe’s organization Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has supported the indefinite bandh called by the Cookie Joe Council (KZC). The organization said that we respect the people involved in the performance on Saturday. There is an appeal to the people to support the bandh.
Cookie said- Government should consider the decision again Cookie Council said in its press release- more than 50 women have been injured in the clash. Our resolve has become stronger than using the force of security personnel. Council supports peace but imposing peace will resent and struggle.
We urge the government to reconsider this decision. The council cannot guarantee independent movement of Maetai people. We will not be responsible for any untoward incident. The government’s decision will be strongly opposed until a political solution to permanent peace for the community is found out.
Amit Shah announced a free movement On March 1, Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting in the Ministry of Home Affairs on the situation in Manipur. From March 8, the Home Minister had asked to ensure unruly movement on all roads in Manipur. At the same time, instructions were given to take strict action against those who blocked the roads.

The review meeting held on March 1 included Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, top officials of the Manipur government, officers of the army and paramilitary forces.
Chief Secretary said- General situation will be restored Manipur Chief Secretary PK Singh said that we are all trying to restore general situation in the state. Helicopter services between Rajdhani Imphal to Churachandpur will start from March 12. He informed that strict action will be taken on any attempt to obstruct public traffic.
