Manchester United legend and a member of the England football team in two World Cups Phil Jones will visit Chennai on April 6, for the final stage competition of the Apollo Tyres Road to Old Trafford five-a-side football tournament.
A total of 40 teams had competed in Pune and Delhi in the preliminary stage. Six teams, Stilton Cafe and Tajore Cafe from Delhi, BP Street (Noida), Wise Monkey (Mumbai), Swig (Pune) and K-Bar (Goa) have made it to the final.
The champion team of the final in Chennai will travel to Manchester and compete in the global competition on the hallowed turf of Old Trafford Stadium on June 6.
“Through this initiative, we strive to celebrate India’s passion for football and provide talented players a platform to showcase their skill. We hope this serves as a catalyst, inspiring and empowering young Indian footballers to elevate their game to new heights,” said Remus D’Cruz, Head of Sports Marketing of Apollo Tyres.
