Madhurima Tuli, who has made her special identity in shows like Baby ‘,’ Hamari Adhuri Kahani ‘and’ Bigg Boss’, will soon be seen in the film ‘Tehran’ with John Abraham. On this occasion, he had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. Read some major parts of the interview …
It is heard that you are going to be seen in the film ‘Tehran’. How did you connect with this project?
In ‘Tehran’ I am playing the role of John Abraham ji’s wife. This is a very beautiful role, which is a family like a heart and soul. I enjoyed working with everyone during the shooting of this film. The film also stars Manushi Chillar and Neeru Bajwa. It is being produced by Madock Films and the experience of working with the entire team was very good.
Suddenly I was contacted for this project. The shooting of the film was already going on and I received a call at the last minute. First I was asked my dates and some were given to read some scenes. After that no call came for some time, but after about two weeks I was told that I have been finalized for this film. That moment was very happy for me.
I met for the first time only after reaching the set. I did not meet anyone before that. Later I came to know that the team liked my character in ‘Baby’ very much and on the basis of that he chose me for this project. The film was shot in Delhi, which lasted for about 5-6 days. It was not a long shoot. I jokingly told him to increase my role a little, because I was enjoying the shooting a lot. But I played the character that was.
After ‘Baby’, did you ever get any other offer from Neeraj Pandey or Akshay Kumar?
I have no idea about the sequel or spin-off of Baby ‘whether it is being made or not. Yes, a spin-off ‘name of Baby’ was definitely made and a clue was also left at the end of ‘Baby 2’. I have also requested Neeraj sir to make ‘Baby 2’. After ‘Baby’ from Akshay Sir, I have not received any direct approach so far. But I hope that there will be a proposal in future, because there is every possibility of moving forward in that story.
What kind of character do you want to play next?
So far I have played many types of characters. Some bubbly, some serious and some challenging too. Next I am looking for characters who are not only strong, but also play an important role in the story. I believe that a good character is the one who pursues the story and leaves his mark on the hearts of the audience. I want to explore such characters who give the message of women empowerment or raise any important issue related to the society. In addition, I am also interested in working in stories rich in psychological thriller and suspense.
Do you have a project in which you will be seen in the lead role?
I have an Amazon show, whose title is ‘One Point 40’. I am very excited about this project, because my character in it is full-fledged. The entire story of this show revolves around my character to a large extent. My role is not limited to just a supportive role or some scenes, but it is an important focal point of the entire plot.
In this show, I have the opportunity to show my acting layers. The character has many shades, which I have tried my best to play. As an artist, I have received a lot of satisfaction from this project. Its shooting has been completed and it is currently in post-production phase. It is expected that the show will be released on Amazon Prime Video this year. The show also stars Sanjay Kapoor Sir and Arbaaz Khan Sir with me. The experience of working with him was also very good.
Now one of your projects had heard about ‘Unaware’. What is that?
Our company is a project of SVMT, which has been started by my brother. It is a musical short film, directed by my brother Srikanth. The film is the story of a girl who gets angry with her mother and leaves home. Further, through his journey and an incident, he realizes that family is the most important in life. The film was scheduled to release earlier this year, but now it will probably come next year.
You have been active in the industry since 2007, but your filmography looks relatively (compared to others). Is there any special reason behind this?
Somewhere I was a little late, maybe it was a little lazy. I did not push myself much. I think I should have tried a little more so that I could do more work. At the time when my peak period was, I did not push myself as much. I think it was my fault. God gave a lot, but I lacking myself forward.
My self-efficiency has never been so much about getting work. I know many people, and due to this, call calls of auditions and look tests automatically come. First I have given a lot of auditions, I have stood in long lines. Now if the call comes, I give a look test from the house, or if I have to go for audition, I get a perticular time. However, there should never be a shame in asking for work, especially when you have worked with someone before. It is perfect to call and express your desire to work again.
What are the benefits of reality shows like ‘Nach Baliye’ and ‘Bigg Boss’?
Benefits are available from every work. I have come to work in the industry and have big shows like ‘Nach Baliye’ and ‘Bigg Boss’. If you are fond of dance then why not do it? If I refuse it, then why am I in this industry? I have done a lot of work on television and if I rejected ‘Nach Baliye’, it would have been wrong for me. Dance is a passion and acting is my dream, so I had to do it.
You have also worked in South films. Is there any project from South?
Not in South, but my main focus has always been on Bollywood. I worked in South, but there is a problem that you have to shift to Bangalore or Hyderabad to work in the South Film Industry, which becomes a little difficult. If a good offer comes, I will definitely do it. As of now, no good offer has been received yet.
