In Ernakulam, Kerala, the deputy general manager of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was arrested taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the owner of a gas agency.
According to the information, DGM Alex Matthew was caught red -handed by the Vigilance Department team late Saturday evening at the complainant’s residence in Kuravan Konam. Matthew had demanded Rs 10 lakh from the complainant. When the complainant refused, the officer transferred 1,200 connections to other agencies.

11 kg of hemp seized at Agartala railway station in Tripura, two women smugglers arrested

Two female drug smugglers were arrested with about 11 kg of cannabis at Agartala railway station in Tripura on Saturday evening. This action was taken jointly by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Both the arrested women have been identified as Uma Devi (50) and Kajal Devi (35), both hail from Saharsa in Bihar. Both have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act.
According to railway police officials, Ganja was hidden in two big pit bags. The accused were trying to smuggle Tripura through Deoghar Express. He planned to use Agartala railway station as a transit point to take drugs to other states.
