A hearing was held in the Punjab-Haryana High Court today (Thursday) in the case of an interview given by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in jail. During this time, the SIT investigating the case has shared several information in the court. Soon the court order will be issued in this regard.

According to the information, the case came to light in March 2023 when a private channel telecasted gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from jail. On this, the High Court started hearing the case by taking self -cognizance (Suo Moto). The court believed that such interviews could glorify crime and criminals, which could have negative effects on society, especially on the youth.
Later these videos were removed, but the police told the court that these interviews on YouTube had been viewed more than 1.2 million times.
Police denied interview in Punjab
Initially, the Punjab Police refused to be the interview in the state, but when the SIT investigated, it was found that one of these interviews was recorded at the Crime Branch (CIA) building in Kharar of Punjab Police on midnight of 3 and 4 September 2022.
The second interview took place in Rajasthan, and now the FIR of the case has been submitted to the Rajasthan Police. In these interviews, Lawrence Bishnoi claimed that he was not involved in the Sidhu Mosewala murder case. In addition, he also reiterated the threat of actor Salman Khan in 1998 over a black deer hunting case.
Seven suspended including DSP
After this case came to light, there was a stir in the Punjab Police. After investigation, the government suspended seven policemen, including two DSPs. In addition, it was decided to dismiss a DSP from service and the High Court was informed in this regard. After this incident, special emphasis was laid on increasing the security of jails in the state.
Punjab jails are getting hi -tech
Following the court’s directive, the Punjab government decided to strengthen security measures in jails. So far, Artificial Intelligence (AI) based CCTV surveillance system has been set up in eight jails. At the same time, the work of installing X-ray baggage scanner and body-wise cameras is also going on, which the government has claimed to complete by 31 March.
In addition, CCTV cameras in six other jails will be fully activated by May 2. The court has also ordered that iron nylon nets should be installed on the walls of the jails so that the incidents of throwing illegal material from outside in the jail premises can be prevented.
